Catedral de Salamanca Grotesques
An architectural grotesque is a fantastic or mythical figure carved from stone and fixed to the walls or roof of a building. I am captivated by a grotesque depicting a dog biting the tail of a monkey, decorating the eastern door on the northern wall of the cathedral.

Aldea del Cano
มุมมอง 23หลายเดือนก่อน
The Camino works in mysterious ways, providing answers to questions not asked. The heavy pack, the time requirements of painting, my crummy Spanish, and trying to shower and dress in a 1 meter stall all take their toll, and I am forced to take stock and set priorities. I'm happy with the day's painting, though. :-) TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Intro 01:08 Limitations of an albergue 02:14 Mi castellano no ...
Aljucén to Alcuéscar
มุมมอง 7หลายเดือนก่อน
(NO PAINTING) I leave Aljucén in the dark, trying to secure a bunk in a 12-bed albergue, only to find when I arrive at noon, that it's actually 55 beds. The Casa de la Misericordia de Alcuéscar is the original mother house, the first of five, founded by Father Leocadio Galán for the physically and mentally ill, who are housed and cared for free of charge. But I find almost every cafe in town is...
Mérida to Aljucén
มุมมอง 22หลายเดือนก่อน
I leave Mérida by foot, resuming the Via de la Plata pilgrimage from Sevilla to Santiago de Compostela, 1000 km (600 mile) on one of the lesser traveled Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes dating back to 1100 AD. Leaving Mérida I hike to Aljucén, and paint San Andres Apostal Iglesia Parroquial Catolica, St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. It's a long journey solo, literally everything is in...
Catedral Metropolitana de Merida

I find a terrific spot to paint in Plaza Espana, then spend an hour of precious sunshine exploring the Puente Romano, the longest Roman bridge still in existence. This leaves the painting a little unfinished, but several cafes are within an olive stone's throw. Merida - Templo Diana

Badajoz to Merida
มุมมอง 2หลายเดือนก่อน
I travel by high-speed train from Badajoz to Merida, make an exceedingly poor painting of Templo Diana, and a decent drawing of a Brugse Zot Dubbel Bruin beer tap on a rainy evening at Cafe Joplin, using colored pencils provided by a new friend. Cafe Joplin asks for the drawing, which I am happy to donate. TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Last sights in Badajoz 00:50 Train to Merida 01:39 Templo Diana 02:00 C...

I hike 20 kilometers to Monesterio, discussing a significant change in plans for my Camino in light of the coming wet weather. Loved it, music, mood, nice pics too, and your painting rocked.
Muy bonito
Muchas gracias, Mercedes !!
I just love these videos. Very pleasant to share part of a day with a pilgrim.
Thank you, Barry !! They're more fun to put together than I thought :-)
Great clip!
Thank you !! See some you recognize? :-)
Nice! I shared this with a friend of mine who recently did a talk at our church about his journey (some years back) walking the Camino.
Very cool, thank you !! Most folks walk the Camino Frances, this one is much less traveled, and starts from Seville. Next time I'm in Europe I'll look for peanut butter and a Saws-All
@@TwigsInOurHair LOL!

I've wondered about how that name came about.
How very beautiful ❤
Thank you Atma !! :-)
Great video! It was fun being a part of it!!
Great to have you contribute !! See you in drawing soon
Hey nice to see you at drawing today!
Thanks, Ty, it was great to meet you :-) Artwork for our fellow artists is dribbling in, I hope to have a rough draft by the end of the week
@@TwigsInOurHair Great, looking forward to seeing it :)
Thank you for sharing your gift, how fortunate you are!
What a kind thing to say !!!! You made my day 🙂
I like the dark shadows! The contrast is bold but believable. One can almost feel the sunlight...one of my favorite irises so far!
Thanks, Holly. I've been struggling with shadows on yellow and white flowers. These turned out OK, but because the resulting shadows are the same value as the green background, the flower gets lost a bit
Saw you over on the SLC Urban Sketchers group. Have fun with the channel.
Thank you, Brent !!
I'm surprised they let me be on camera for as long as they did. And holy shit, saxes are fucking annoying.
Yowza!!! What a workout, after already practicing on the field, for a couple of hours I’d imagine!
Were there 76 bones?
This is an AWESOME TRADITION that I was apart of in the Mid 90's
Todd Hogg I love it!! You must miss it. 💂🏽♂️💂🏻♀️💂🏽♂️🥁🎺🎷
Great video!
I would be cheering for the tubas but so scared at the same time lol
Their marching reminds me of horses for some reason. It looks fun though. ^.^
thejadegecko Beautiful, elegant, talented horses. 🙂
Did I miss something? What was so spectacular about this? Must be a tradition.
It's a tradition. It's the last thing the band does before they are dismissed on game days.
My daughter was in this magnificent marching band for sadly only two years until her knees were ruined. I love this band still today. She was in in the 90s. There was nothing better than game day. You have to be there.
Judith Meyer Oh no, your poor daughter. I can only imagine how exciting it must be, in person.
Lol the two end drum majors look like middle schoolers
We march through the garage if it's a Big Ten game.
You're welcome. It's a trip :-)
Thanks! My son will be in this band in the fall..so excited!
DM must be in shape for this.
Way cool, thanks!
