Zwift ds com TTT Predictor and Power Planning
A quick overview video on how to use my new TTT Time Predictor as well as the Power Planner to give your team the best chance of an efficient and fast pace line
By taking just a few details and comparing your entered stats to the known best teams over that course, I am confident that in most instances I can get to well within 60s of an accurate time for your team.
Note: throughout this video I reference ‘FTP’, but what I actually mean is the % vs the power you entered into the form, which may NOT actually be the rider’s FTP, but is a more accurate reflection of their performances during previous TTTs.

How The Best Zwift Team Time Trial - By the Numbers
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I have wanted for a while to see how the fastest teams on Zwift, during a WTRL Time Trial, are executing their race. Not specific tactics for any particular course, but more how they generally organise themselves and their tactics. This video is a short study into the efforts needed to acheive your best result against other teams in your class. You can find all the details on everything mention...
How to DS a Zwift Team Time Trial
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Over the second half of 2020, I became increasingly interested in the role of a DS in the incredibly popular WTRL Team Time Trial, happening every Thursday on Zwift. After lots of playing around with numbers and with the gracious permission of the women of Socks4Watts eRacing team, especially the awesome Aero Unicorns, I have developed a set of techniques that I think can help anyone get the be...

    I was in a TTT group with heavier guys and I felt like I was doing threshold just sitting into the draft and I always got dropped eventually

    @PaulFitzpatrick does the excelsheet need an update because of the Pack Dynamics 4.0 and the updated information on ZwiftInsider about the double draft and TTT's?

      Hi, the sheet on the site now is updated. PD4 generates significantly more Draft in Positions 2-4 and my calculations will reflect this. Good Luck.

      @@eloyzwift Hi, I have not had a chance to look into this in detail, but looking at the ZI information, we are talking only a small handful of watts (perhaps 1%) different compared to PD4.0, so as a result I would not propose to change the figures in the current document. - Thanks for asking though :)

    Here's a question for you. If the team is lined up nose to tail, are the following riders wasting watts that aren't being used due to sticky draft - i.e. are the watts in excess of those required to maintain the speed of the rider in front 'wasted' due to the fact that zwift will not make you overtake unless there's you're doing significantly more. If this is the case, is the ideal position to maintain a 1m gap to the rider in front?

    • @covboy70
      @covboy70 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick. Interesting question and something I don't have an easy answer for. What I would say is that in a TTT you are not trying to 'overtake' a rider in front, so as much draft as is available is useful. Then once a rider has done their turn, it is they who drops right off the power and drifts back. This power drop does need to be significant, to ensure THEY don't get pulled along and that the team can move past them. What I (and others) are calculating is how this draft means riders can do less behind the lead rider and go the same pace. Since this video I have actually gone further to take account of weight and height. You can find it on my website. In reality, we all know that trying to hold a paceline in any Zwift TTT is difficult enough, so trying to hold 1m off would be probably impossible. I am simply helping people get closer to this with a Power Calculator by rider by position, but it does take practice ideally.

    Nice work! In your spreadsheet, can you explain how the riders are ordered in the "Riders by position in line" table? I see it auto sorts after inputting rider power & weight in the other table and sorting that by w/kg, but I can't quite figure out the logic used to order the position in line.

    • @covboy70
      @covboy70 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Calum, Thanks for the question. In truth the order probably doesn't matter too much. IRL TTT tend to sprinkle the stronger (more watts) riders through the group and sandwich the less strong inside the line. Not really an issue in Zwift, but I followed that logic anyway with riders in order of power 1,6,2,5,3,4 for a 6 person TTT. The reason I left 7&8 at the end kind of contradicts myself above, but just means if you using the doc for a 6 person ZRL team, rather than the 8 person WTRL race, you just end up with empty lines at the bottom, rather than holes in the sheet. Make sense?

    • @meh0k0
      @meh0k0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@covboy70 Perfect sense, thanks Paul!

    • @covboy70
      @covboy70 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the sheet makes more sense sorting by RAW WATTS, not w/kg. On a flat course, this is more important and the basis of the order. The best watts, might not be the best w/kg ;)
