I think this song really spreads awareness about how much the world is changing people. I know I definitely relate to this. Currently, I'm dealing with a lot of different issues. My parents are both homophobic, and I'm actually aromantic. I haven't told them yet, and I don't know when I will. My dad is very sexist towards girls, saying we can't protect ourselves. He was divorced with my mom when I was 3 because he thought she should stay home and take care of my siblings and me. He is very unkind towards other races (besides whites) as well as immigrants. In fact, he once kept me and my sister from singing "Alexander Hamilton" on July 4 because "history focuses too much on immigrants." He thinks we live in the 19th century, I swear. My brother is also very homophobic and sexist. He thinks girls are stupid and weak. He pushes me around whenever he gets the chance. My mom never punishes him for it, saying I was "giving him the reaction he wanted" by getting angry. Instead, I get blamed. I also believe I may be dealing with OCD (I'm not claiming to have it, as I haven't seen a doctor yet), and anxiety. I've been getting chronic headaches from stress and pressure and I'm constantly cleaning, rearranging, and checking things. If you have any tips, let me know. Everyone has different issues they're dealing with, and it can change us. What we experience changes us, for the better or worse. These words definitely hit home.
