Mustang Tank Swap Dodge D100
#swap #dodgetrucks #mopar #dodge
Sick and tired of hunting for a Ramcharger tank for your D100? There’s a ton of pros and cons of running a rear mounted tank. We recently swapped in SRT seats in our project and that required us to remove the in-cab gas tank. After going forward with dual exhaust, I noticed issues running a stock side mounted tank so….. I looked for a Ramcharger, welp, they’re few afar and not to mention no repops.
Fast forward, i was on FB in the D150 Nation group and notice a guy mention Mustang tanks asking for insight. That’s all the motivation I needed to make it happen. Lucky me, these Mustang tanks are pennies compared to fuel cells and Holley setups. Not to mention I could also use the Mustang sensing unit as Ford and Dodge ohm for the gas gauge are the same (until like late 80s early 90s)
These tank kits are EXTREMELY CHEAP!

Cleaning Out the LS SWAP 66 C10 and Updates
hey man I love your vids and I've been referencing your LMC exhaust video for most of my journey with my own truck. I have had it on for about a year because it is my daily but I have some crazy exhaust vibrations happening. Did you experience this too?
Thanks bro! As far as the LMC kit goes, I didn’t have any issues like that but I wasn’t a fan of the downward pipes off the manifolds. I felt they were a tad bit too close to the bell housing and came down a bit far. That could also be your issue. In the end I settled for some Hedman headers, extensions, mufflers and turndowns. Credited to a setup I seen on D150 Nation Facebook group.
🤌🤌🤌 4k, I wasn't trying to push you when I seen you the other day 😂 but it does look great bro!
@@TurbochargedTactics oh I already had this one in the background scheduled lol. It’s actually 1080. GoPro battery didn’t like 4K 😅
@TKSpeedShop I seen that towards the end, still looked great. If I wasn't about to start kicking my stuff back off I'd let you use the 12. Wife says I have to get rid of the Honda and the Sentra first before I bring something else home though 🥲
Oof! It’s good to see you back tho bro!
What’s up? I have had a TH-cam channel for a couple years. I’m terrible at posting videos though. It’s probably been close to 6 months. I’m building a 99 firebird. LS swapping it. Pretty much have it stripped down. Also doing a front tilt hood and suicide doors. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep em coming.
Dude that’s awesome! I love fbodies! I have a 99 myself! Definitely gonna check out your channel! I’m usually scatterbrain so if I don’t slow down sometimes I tend to forget recording 😅
Yet again, another great video. Love seeing this truck coming together. I had a bad year in 24. A bunch of knee surgeries took up my year. As of this week, I'm getting around with a cane instead of a wheelchair, and am ready to get back out in the garage. I have an 88 Fiero Formula, that is partially apart. I need to get it the rest of the way stripped so I can start getting her back together. I have an LS4 5.3 and an F40 6speed I'll be building up and installing to the car. I am constantly being inspired by the youtubers who do cars in their own garages. I count this channel among the greats along with Vice Grip Garage, Paintucation with Kevin Tetz, and SniderTron3000. Keep the awesomeness coming. Who knows? I might start my own channel. Thanks for the inspiration, and the motivation.
As a fellow knee surgery patient, I know the feeling. I had a critical injury back in 13” I appreciate your support throughout my YT journey! I’m also a fan of SniderTron3000. I have noticed as a content creator, you slowly lose more time watching other creators. I think everybody should do TH-cam on the sole purpose of sharing their experiences!
TK Speed shop.. after watching video I feel like doing this bypass, but I have a question maybe you can help out. So I have 1969 Dodge d100 truck and it has an ammeter gauge. When I drive the truck, the gauge starts to read C/charging, therefor the higher the RPM's the higher it charges, not good because it starts to heat up the wires/melt and over charge battery. I have replaced my voltage regulator a few times because it burns it out. Now what I do is disconnect the charging system to be able to drive the truck and not heat up my wires/over charge the battery. 1. if I perform this bypass and replace my voltage regulator again, would this possibly fix my issue ? or you think something else is going on ?
Does it hit up the wires to the ALT? How is the condition to the fusable links? I would wonder how the back of your AMP gauge pads look since all that power goes through it. I can tell you from my experience, I didn’t have any issues with hot wires but I didn’t drive mines long enough to find out either. When I did have the amp gauge functioning before the swap I did notice my amp gauge read high a lot of days which was concerning.
I think aces is going to be a fantastic company, I think people forget they are a relatively new company compared to Holley
Didn’t get anything?! 😒😒😒😒 lemme go get my money back 😂
🤭
1 step closer. Very nice. Coolant system and power steering? Sorted. Great job
Appreciate the support! Definitely one step closer!
Do you still like aces ? I’m thinking about it myself
I still don’t have any issues so that’s a plus. They’re still working on their brand so hopefully they’ll continue pushing the boundaries.
@ there kits can you build them as you go. Like harness ecm. Then later injectors intake and so on or do you have to get what you think then and there. I’m on a budget
Must be some weird camera tricks. I'm impressed on how this turned out!
I will say, it’s all in the prep work. It definitely turned out way better than I expected!
Hey! Hey! My truck ain’t getting worked on because SOMEONE won’t get it IN the shop because there’s another truck in the way! 😂😂😂 i told ya, im READY! ❤❤
But are you READYYYYYY 🤭
You under that truck saying you're gonna put the super 10s on and then all I heard was "TURN DOWN FOR WHAT!? 🎉📢🍾🍻" 🤣 Glad to see her going, thanks for the lesson on the hei.
😂 I’ll add them to the finale video lol
Congrats on getting the engine going. Very happy to see it all together. Will love to see it go down the road. Your determination is amazing. Another great video. I love Dodge trucks
Thanks for all the support man! I really appreciate it!
I’m still looking for a video of someone installing the pickup tube and o-ring
I did a video building a budget 5.3 (with timeskips) pretty short and straightforward.
Thank you for the information I actually watched the full video
I’m happy I’m able to be of some help!
How does it run with that cam? I got the same cam for my 87 d100 318 but haven't had it installed yet. Im sure it woke it up some? I also plan on running a 600 holley, eddy performer intake, headers and dual exhaust.
It’s okayish. You definitely feel a difference, but it’s not gonna make a huge difference. I’m in the process of doing headers at the moment so I’ll revisit this! I also have the eddy intake and dual exhaust setup currently
@TKSpeedShop I heard it would make some good torque. Especially with the 4bbl and headers.I'm not looking for a race truck but would hope it would be a noticeable gain. I will admit though, these trucks run pretty good with 2bbls and stock manifolds/exhaust. Not the quickest thing but once it's gets up and going they move pretty good. Thanks for feedback.
Kyi, I have a 1970 Camaro that I’ve been stock pilling parts for, for over ten years! Your videos are very timely, I’m committed to completing this project. Thanks for the content. You keep wrenching and I’ll keep wrenching.
Great video. I been looking at this system just didn't know anything about it. Im going to try it in a 82 c10 im going to start working on after new years or a 70 impala i have. You have a new sub thanks for the information
I know they call it shimming, but really your aligning the pump. Reason Melling doesn't want you to align the pump is because it voids the warranty to open the pump. Something to be said when no engine builder installs a pump without aligning it. Melling does have another install video where they do align it and they state a few times warranty is void. That said, a $20 3d printed tool aligns the pump and can be used to set the timing cover too. More so when oil pumps go out more then water pumps on LS engines. Proven fact if you can Google stuff. Obviously best of luck, but my personal gen 5 with ls3 has 27k miles and the stock pump housing already scored. The reason to align the pump is to ensure you have enough of an oil gap around the outer gear. It is the same concept for a trans pump (99% same tech) and those not only need aligned but are matching sets. All that said, as a custom shop owner, the 10 extra minutes to align the pump saves me time, money and customers. In my personal vehicle I have over $10k in the motor. I will not allow any cam change without a new oil pump just in case in my shop and they are all "shimmed" and over 5 years have had 0 oil issues. Few spun rod bearing for low oil and to hard of cornering, but that wasn't the pumps fault.
Appreciate the comment! I can say from personal experience, I haven’t had a single oil pump failure 😁 I agree on the camshaft/oil pump combo.
Are you saying it's just an oil pump and not some mystical piece of hardware from "the Engine gods"? I sir, did not see you use five sizes of shims and stick your tongue out at the right angle while putting that on and now it will kill a busload of nuns when you fire it up. Or maybe it's just a pump on a damn chevy after all.
Keep on truckin'! You're doing great!
Wait a second… those are MY turbo cans 😂

Killshot TBI kit from Aces is less than $600 If your interested in keeping the 4bbl intake on there. My vote is for the TBI. Congrats on being monetized. Car is coming together nicely. Keep the awesomeness coming!
I would also swap the intake out for a single plane 😁 just better fuel atomization. Thank you for all your support! All the comments and love from you definitely helps!
Man, that Trans looking good. Hope your channel grows and God blesses you with prosperity and health. Like how simple you cover things🙏🏼

What did u use for ur carb swap ls ..im doing my own build on my impala box chevy and wanted Info
Just a parts list what I will need
As far specs, it’s a 5.3 with a hawk tuah Texas speed grind and springs. eBay Holley knockoff manifolds, Holley LS dual plane, 750 brawler mechanical carb, basic ICT swap plates, MSD 6014 box, eBay Holley knockoff oil pan. Basic sbc engine mounts. I also used my th350. Used speedway th350 LS swap flexplate and spacer.
I got a vidget on my channel of me building this and a vidget covering the cost of the build.
@TKSpeedShop thank u bro for the info im bout to check ur video out
My Frends and I started a 1971 Camaro SS after 28 Years for the first Time and it run YEEEEAAAH💪💪💪
BRO 😎 PLEASE PAINT FIREWALL. SO AFTER YOU PUT ENGINE IT WILL LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE MUCH MORE IN IT THAN YOU DO🎉🎉
As a guy who prefers GM stuff, I am ALL for the c10 next up! :D
You need to hear it for motivation sometimes.
I should have the 77-78 engine bay harness for the lights/horn/accessories. Worst case scenario we can build a harness with all new wiring. I have a few back glasses. Great advice for the relay. You should post the part number and where you bought the exhaust manifolds for other 2nd genners LS swapping their Camaro/Firebird projects, and wonder if the manifolds will work on other models(like the G body).
@@bentaxledad6778 I got the other side of the harness. Just gotta clean it up 🙂 I’m definitely gonna have to make a trip out your way! I got the part link in the description for the parts I used this vidget 😁 I’m pretty sure they would work on G bodies because of how well they tuck. Last set of headers I got for a A body required me to cut the ear off the transmission 😞
The rear tube on the carb will fill the bowl if you pour the gas in there. And it'll run longer
Definitely gonna mess with that. I’m still on the fence about blow through versus a TBI/EFI setup. I know a intercooler isn’t needed on a blow through setup since the carb cools the fuel. Some magic happens 😂
@TKSpeedShop Yes!!!! That's why carbs make more top end power than injection. It cools the fuel far enough up in the intake for it to make a big difference. But injection usually has a better average across the rpm range. It's gonna be cool either way you go!!!
I was thinking about using those exhaust manifolds for my Ls3 swap. I just don't know if the collector is big enough for a crammed 6.2L. I know Holleys says 2 1/2. I've seen some cheap ones say 2 1/4. I'm not paying $500 for manifolds lol.
I measured these out to 2 1/2 which was awesome. I was also concern because of the price. I figured I would take a shot at them. I definitely recommend them!
@TKSpeedShop Cool deal!!! Thank you brother!!!!
