After months and months of waiting in FB marketplace, I finally got 1 of this weber go anywhere charcoal type. I love the portability and size, save me a lot of charcoal consumption compared to when using my 22 inch weber master touch kettle and jumbo joe 18 inch portable grill. I got a drip pan for the charcoal today from thrift shop for $2 so i don't have to keep on using foil. Next up, im cutting the grate into 2 for easy access to charcoal re-fill when cooking. amazing product from weber.

i just got my GA grill a few days ago and cooked a few things on it the other night.... definitely need to cut the grate for charcoal access. also... i had a hell of a time with burning. idk if i need less coal or... :/ was just kind of frustrating and always felt cramped and outta space. (i was cooking 3 items.... small butternut squash. burned up over direct heat. tho it still tasted good. asparagus, mostly fine. burgers.) it was the timing and juggling and stuff that i had trouble with. i also cooked everything open. the pan i had for asparagus was flat and practically the length of the grill so i had it just turned sideways... (guess i could cut in half. i used it as a handle and resting place which was fine, i just couldn't close the grill.) i guess my knowledge of grilling, gotten here on YT, isn't totally transferrable to the mini kits.

I would recommend something like a bolt cutter if you want to cut the grate. If you use an angle grinder make sure to use a thin disc to prevent removing too much metal as it could make it more wobbly

I actually saw somewhere years ago where someone drilled out the weld spots on the handles to take them off. This gave him a rectangular box to pack. Then when ready to use he just used bolts and wing nuts to reattach the handles . Although the charcoal starter is sufficient for a quick cook, you will normally have to reload it for an extended cook.

I am from Homestead, Fl. and moved to Ohio when I was 12. 43 now and been in Bradenton for 2 years now. My wife Is born and raised in Ohio so this Florida life is completely new to her and she is excited to have new experiences. We are still learning the TH-cam thing, but I've found a good free editing app so we are looking forward to making better videos. We watch these types of channels and we do a lot of adventuring ourselves so we decided to share ours as well so our Ohio friends can come along and others can hopefully be inspired as well. We recently took on being foster parents to an infant so we don't get out much now, but it is temporary so we will keep doing what we can for now to make it continue to get better with more content.

For other people, like I do, sometimes who watch the comments I highly recommend this guys method. It's what you would do at your house and it's what I'm doing now with just some slight changes (changing the margarita for some scotch) but otherwise the same thing.
