This is one of the most taxing dives I've ever done - as the enemy RNG is unlike anything I've experienced before. Stage 1 and 2 are completely unpredictable, and it can really take a mental toll when you're re-playing it over and over.
Special shoutout to @milligin , @h2oh , @harlem512 and gooddog. I had a lot of fun watching their runs/streams and their perseverance and optimism never once diminished.

I look forward to working together to build this small community. There are many challenging aspects when it comes to deep dive speedruns - specifically around the 'world record'. The past several weeks have given me a lot of hope that it is heading in a good direction, and Milligin is a big driving force of that.

Thank you! I’m not sure his full build, but the main part is the Bulldog with Volatile Bullets. He used incendiary grenades to set the dreads on fire and then one-shot them with the Volatile Bullets
Crystals easier to do if u start the event and wait for a pipe break. then bust the crystal. if your lucky the pipes will lore them away.

How does the clip into the drop pod even work??
When the pod is coming down, I look up to see where the lights are facing. This tells you where the door of the drop pod will be. I always try to grapple towards the back side of the drop pod to get a more consistent clip. I grapple to just under where the floor of the drop pod should be and hold the grapple until the pod lands. Once it lands, I jump a couple times until I pop through the floor. It takes some practice to get it right, but once you have it down I would say it’s an over 90% success rate

Greenbeard here, sorry if these are dumb questions, but how do you build your grappling hook and your armor? Specifically I was wondering with your grappling hook if you took faster retraction to do the egg throw catch manuever so that after catching you'd have ebough moment to clear the ledge. Also how do you that drop pod clip it looks super cool!
My grappling hook is: 1, 1, 1, 2 and my armor is: 1, 2, 1, 3. My grappling hook is setup the same on every one of my runs - I never change it. I like having the faster hook retraction mainly for jumping down towards the ground (usually off of cliffs, etc.). I can wait until the very last second before grappling and preventing fall damage. I find it harder to do with 'overcharged winch'. As far as the egg throw catch maneuver, there is actually a bug in the game right now that prevents you from doing it faster. If you do it too quick (the normal way), your grapple hook will go off but the hook won't come out and you'll stay on the ground. If you watch my 7 minutes and 4 second run from last month, you can actually see this happen to me in the 3rd stage. I imagine this maneuver is easier to do with my grapple setup since the windup time is faster. As for the drop pod clip, it's kind of hard to explain. I always start by looking at the drop pod lights to see where the front door will be. I try to aim for the back 'corner' of the drop pod. It's just where I've had the most success. You hold the grabble there until the pod lands on you. Once it lands, you jump up a couple times until you climb through the floor of the pod. This takes a lot of practice so if you have modding capabilities I would suggest going into Sandbox Utilities, calling the drop pod, and practicing to get it right.
@@benicopter Thanks for all the info! I was able to install the sandbox mod and I found a great tutorial by Autogyro.001 (who I just noticed actually also commented on this video lol) to set up and practice it. I also checked out the egg glitch in your 7:04 run (at 7:13 in the video). And I was curious to find what was causing it, since you yourself said "why does it do that?!" I started playing around with it in the sandbox. Through my limited testing, I have a theory as to why it happens, but I still need to confirm it. My theory is that the devs are reusing the switch gun function to reload the asset for the gun that you had before carrying something. The basis behind this idea is that the animation for the glitch looks identical to the animation for when you cancel a grapple by immediately switching to another weapon. Additionally, when you switch weapons your down left click is automatically canceled such that if you're firing a weapon and then you switch weapons, even though you're still holding down on the fire button as you switch you won't shoot anything until you let go and you fire again. So what I think happens is: 1. When you throw the egg the throwing animation and sound effects trigger 2. As the animations go off, you go from a "carrying something" state to a "normal" state 3. After which since you are holding nothing the switch gun function triggers to reload the gun asset. So what I think is causing the glitch is that there is a small buffer between the end of the throwing animation (step 2) and the beginning of the switch gun animation (step 3) in which you are technically in a normal state and can fire the gun you had before carrying the object you threw. As such you can actually fire the gun very quickly before the switch gun animation happens and the fire is canceled. You can actually see this with other weapons that you can hold down to fire as well like the gk2. If you time it right and try to shoot the gk2 continuously during that window (between steps 2 and 3). It will actually get one shot off before the shooting is canceled and you can't shoot anymore. (I can send a clip of this if you'd like.) Even though I don't know where exactly in the switch gun animation the shooting is canceled, you can actually see a perfect visual example of this in your 7:04 run at 7:13. If you go frame by frame (on TH-cam you can use ,. buttons on pc to fast-forward or rewind a video by a frame) you can actually see it say: the distance in frame 1, then recharging in frame 2, then the very top of your grappling hook coming into screen at frame 3. If my theory is correct I think the best way of avoiding the glitch and the way that I've been finding success in the sandbox is to wait at least until you can see a little bit of the asset of the grappling hook on screen because then the cancel fire trigger will have already passed. Its just that if you time it too early you can still get screwed, a queue that you know the grapple is coming up is having the hands already tucked in behind you and waiting for something to show up at the bottom right of the screen in your peripheral vision. The second way of avoiding this glitch is by doing the super throw since when you do it the throwing animation never happens and you already loaded into the grappling hook. As such it can't be canceled by the weird buffer between states. Hope this help! (edits: grammar and readability)

Thank you! It has been great watching Milli’s team run the past few dives. I was really surprised to see so many deep dives have a sub-7 minute potential. Just based on statistics the probability is between 1-2 years to get that good of a dive, but I think Conductive Thermals has changed that probability with how quick it can kill dreads. Hope you’re doing well! We need to run some missions again, I always have fun playing/chatting with you :)

The hiveguard was killed by utilizing Scout’s overclock Conductive Thermals and Gunner’s Volatile Bullets. User the same strategy on the classic dread but missed the 1-shot.

Yeah every 3 seconds one player spends outside of the black box is 1 second of total time lost. So at least 5 seconds of time. But Ryeor completely clutched it after that, so without his insane save I don’t think we would’ve ended with this great run.

Solo Gunner would be tough on this one, especially with stage 2 so spread out
Here we see a driller using approximately 1% of his power to quench his bloodthirst. Sidenote: Diffusion Ray would be much more efficient in the tunnel, allowing you to temp-shock multiple bugs much faster via the blowthrough.

Can someone tell me why the others always dies? Like a type of lure to swarms?
It’s so one of us can clip through the drop pod. You only need one person in the drop pod to move to the next stage. Waiting on molly kills a lot of time, and having more than 1 person clip through the pod puts you at risk of bumping into each other and knocking someone out. It’s just the fastest way to get through each stage exit
