I love this album and Dead Kennedys. Thank you for your thoughts!
Hey Nate - thank you for your tribute to the guvnor. I was lucky enough to be around the band over the last few years and I’m in the book with you! I also wrote a chunk of Twilight of the Mortals with Mont who is also now sadly missed. There was even a time when Geordie was loosely chatting about producing my band! I didn’t think we were ready at the time and I regret that now. I did get to strum that guitar one time and Geordie played my aluminium axe as well. Surreal. Anyway, I will do my humble best to keep that sound alive in my playing and the old ADTs on my channel. Honour the fire matey! 🔥 ❤️ 🩸
I love this album. Great review. 👍
Absolute classic of an album. Definitely Nine Inch Nails' best.
Why isn't it on Spotify actually?
@thomasley7178 it’s now on there. From what I know it was a rights issue
@@natesgreats5208 Oh yeah!! It's there. Great!
Johnny Cash sucks
@@gogley75 Ok. I was just pointing out how the cover of Hurt brought a ton of people to NIN. It’s a good thing to expose folks to artists they might not know. Guess we should thank Rick Rubin for convincing Cash to cover it.
Always love the music content man!
Excellent review. Subbed. This album was completely and utterly inimitable and although I wish there was a sequel with the original lineup, I’ll bet it wouldn’t have been quite as good. Still, nearly everything after this sucked in comparison as far as the gloomy genius of how miserable, dark, tormented, and strange this album was. Though Ross evolved a lot as a vocalist, Catastrophe Ballet and Ashes, though arguably better musically, were let downs in raw intensity compared to this… and Valor is an a__hole for literally f_cking Rozz out of the trademark in the 90’s. Rozz, however, was an idiot for not trademarking it and for not pursing at least a permanent duo of he and Agnew. Valor’s Christian Death is largely dog sh_t except for Atrocities, some of Prophecies, Evilution, and Evil Becomes Rule. Maitri is talented but it’s been a nearly 30 year revolving door of barely mediocre garbage. Valor is decent at rhythm and okay at singing but he’s still largely a nobody thirty years later and lives off a dead man’s name. They never went to court btw. That’s a Reddit rumor from the 90’s days people in LA tossed around. Ross died in 1999; hung himself of April Fool’s Day. Genius creatively and good looking guy but a complete moron with money, no business savvy, and an alchy drughead, egotistical weirdo. He was kind of an a-hole towards the end of his life to many people and died penniless. Finally, look up Shadow Project if you want the last decent taste of Rozz and his former wife Eva O, who is very talented but a piece of sh_t for writing love letters to that serial killer piece of sh_t Richard Ramirez. She’s another nobody. No one outside of Type O much later is really significant in goth metal after Rozz’s deathcore genre. You’d think there’d be hundreds or at least a dozen super noteworthy bands but there aren’t. The aesthetic was just used from Manson to black metal to horrorcore.
Dope.
il avait un son unique, il etait pas Humain le geordie , killing joke pour toujours
GREAT VIDEO. totally agree with most of what you said. My fav album is pandemonium. my fav track is Follow the leaders. Requiem is an anthem not a song. What's next?
Been on a HUGE AIC binge recently and I couldnt agree more, Dirt is their best album. Facelift is definitely a close second for me. But yeah as a guitarist myself, I am absolutely drawn to the riffs that Jerry Cantrell lays on down on tracks, even in the post Layne material! Great vid as always man. 🙏🏽🔥
great tribute mate from Oz
age of greed cant remember it for some reason, will make a point of it
yeah final track IS a banger
Oh was Martin from PiL on that? cool
1000 suns yes twilight for sure ands adorations was my realisation song I posted Geordie was a handsome lad
Nathan you are a legend mate, thankyou for sharing this, I don't get how I missed his passing, I'm gutted
oh nice book mate
gatherers angular and dissonant Pylon is my go to now
just found out Geordie died today...been unaware since last year
Very kind,l miss Geordie 45 happy years
I have rubberneckin on a two lp set also, from Aug 26, same as CD number 11. Just got the box today
I love this record, it is my favorite album by the band, by far.
Same here! I’m glad someone shares the same opinion I do
Cool thanks I'll check it out!
Of course no problem!
good video brother, you are very knowledgeable
Thank you I appreciate it!
Killing Joke Killing Joke and 'What's this for' are their greatest albums. Have you not listened to them? That's when they were raw and aggressive. Become a true KJ fan.
I love those albums. I just talked about other ones because there are so many albums in the catalog that it’s hard to really show them all off. I’m a fan of KJ for sure.
"Sixteen Candles," house party scene.
Great movie! Forgot this song was in it
I tried to find a copy at Amoeba, but they sold out. You shouldn't skip Illusion Of Power. They fixed what people said was wrong with it(Ice T). He wasn't erased. There was an effect added to his voice to make him sound demonic
Alright I’ll have to give it a listen then. I just have horrible memories of that song in its original state
It was the first RTF album that I bought back in the day. Great.
That’s awesome! My first exposure was through the Romantic Warrior album and then I back tracked. Been a massive fan since
Forbidden is a good album
Absolutely. I really think that the remix included in the box set really highlights that fact
@@natesgreats5208 I will order it
Agharta was kind of a failed recording.
Explain your take.
@@williemakeit2346 It feels very distanced-if that makes sense. Miles’ 70s records up to Get Up with It were so enveloping and atmospheric, often kind of intensely claustrophobic (in a good way). Agharta and Pangaea are live but not live, in a way.
@@ryanand154 ok. My next question is how did you hear the album? My intro to this and Pangaea were the US CDs which did zero justice to the music. It was remixed for CD, presumably to sound more “listener friendly” but that robbed the music of its intensity and sonic depth. Simply put they sound nothing like the original LPs which grabbed you by the throat. The original vinyl and the 2013 Japan Blue Spec CDs capture these albums in all their frothing atmospheric and claustrophobic glory. The OG Agharta mix is available on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/mBjS_KO5kuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Sa01qp3OsqIeoL-7
@@williemakeit2346 Granted, I’ve only heard the CDs. That’s all I have in my collection. The music is awesome… the sound, not so much!
@@ryanand154in that case definitely do yourself a favor good brother- have a listen to the OG mix of Agharta: th-cam.com/video/mBjS_KO5kuU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tvyhoWOzi7VmKcTC
The phrase is bat a thousand. Bat 100 and you get sent to the minors pretty quick, man.
I was tired when I recorded this. I know the phrase it just slipped my mind
@@natesgreats5208- It’s all good, man. I hope you’re digging the box set. It was a long time coming! 🤘🏼
@crusheverything4449 I absolutely love the box set and yeah it really was a long time coming. Glad it’s out now and folks can check out these great albums
@@natesgreats5208- I’ll be very happy if Tony Martin’s status within Sabbath’s history - and rock in general - is elevated to where it should be. He’s an absolutely amazing singer and songwriter. I’m psyched he has another chance to be recognized for his greatness. 🤘🏼
@crusheverything4449 It’s looking like your wish is coming true. There’s lots of positive feedback on the box set and demand for interviews from Martin. I’m glad there’s so much positive buzz from the set!
Side note, I never liked that weak remix that the CD (and now streaming) version of the album has. The vinyl and the Japan Blu Spec CD is where it’s at!
Completely agree! The vinyl and the Blu Spec CD are by far the best versions of this album you can get
Dude, good review! I love Miles Davis- all the periods of his career including those classic records you mentioned - but Agharta is my favorite album on earth. I have the Japanese edition which was released about 8 months prior to the US release. Comes with completely different and way more psychedelic artwork.
Won't cry for you is a great song .
Absolutely! It’s grown on me over the past few days. I’m really enjoying remix of Forbidden. It’s just so heavy!
Mine is arriving tomorrow! Can’t wait!!!
You’ll enjoy it immensely I’m sure! It’s really amazing sound quality
Great
I love this, can’t wait to get mine. I rank them chronologically starting from Eternal Idol. Enjoyed the vid.
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. This era of Sabbath is getting lots of love recently so naturally getting the set sounded good. Plus it includes two of my favorite Sabbath albums ever. Either way thanks for watching.
extremeties album is excellent as is the studio outakes version too. well worth checking out
I have the outtakes and it’s incredible!
Hasn't to be mu favourite kyuss album by far! 🤟
Great =Van Hagar= box set! Have one myself.
Nice! It’s such a fantastic set
What a fun review!🎉
It was an absolute blast!
Hell yes ! Rock on.. doesn't get any better than that. Way cool
Glad you appreciate it! Definitely more VH stuff coming soon!
New subscriber, Nate. Thanks for reviewing The Pogues . I regret that I never gave the Pogues a listen AT ALL in my 60+years, instead just traditional classic rock. Visited Ireland last November fell in love with their people and the music; now obsessed with The Pogues. Shane was an amazing poet and performer; such a tragic, tortured soul.RIP Shane MacGowen.
I thought this album was brilliant. I heard some talk at the time about how The Pogues were no good without Shane, and, no, they were not "The Pogues featuring Shane MacGowan", but they were something else just as good, as far as I'm concerned. Not every track knocks it out of the park, but neither does every track on any given Pogues-with-Shane album.
I would only disagree on one thing….”If I should fall from Grace with God” was tremendous all the way through.
Well, tbh, it's been years if not decades since I listened to a Pogues album end-to-end, so I'm basing my grand pronouncements on vague impressions - but that's just how I roll, as the kids say ... or used to say at some point .....!@@chuckhutton5087
Great album. 💯.
I haven't heard a lot of their albums yet (Outside The Gate, Pandemonium, Self-Titled 2003, Hosannas, Absolute Dissent, MMXII), but i've really fell in love with this band lately. My list at the time would be something like this: Honourable mentions include: Blue Feather, Multitudes, Victory, Requiem, Pssyche, Democracy, a lot more. 25. Euphoria 24. Age Of Greed 23. Mass 22. The Death & Resurrection Show 21. Wardance 20. A Southern Sky 19. Sun Goes Down 18. Extremities 17. Change 16. Love Like Blood 15. Exorcism 14. Dominator 13. Sanity 12. Europe 11. Eighties 10. Drug 9. Love Of The Masses 8. Goodbye To The Village 7. Primitive 6. Twilight Of The Mortal 5. Darkness Before Dawn 4. Exile 3. Money Is Not Our God 2. Night Time 1. Adorations My ranking of albums i've heard so far is: 1. Night Time 2. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns 3. Extremities, Dirt & Various Repressed Emotions 4. Killing Joke (1980) 5. Fire Dances 6. What's This For? 7. Pylon 8. Democracy 9. Revelations
I enjoyed this. Thanks. Subscribed. 👍
