I actually think there was something lost when Kojima's team did their homework for tactical maneuvers in MGS2/TS. MGS1 got it wrong, but in the ways the _movies_ got it wrong, which ended up getting it even _more_ right for the style they were going for.

There are 4 stages involved in launching a ballistic missile. The first one is the Boost Stage. It starts at the point the missile is launched and ends after all the rocket fuel is burned and the missile is propelled into the exosphere. The next stage is the Post-Boost Stage. It starts after all the fuel is burned and ends after the re-entry vehicle is ejected. Next is the Intermediate Course Stage. It takes place after the re-entry vehicle is ejected and lasts until the missile enters the exosphere. Then comes the Final Stage. It starts when the re-entry vehicle enters the exosphere and it lasts until it reaches its ultimate target on the ground. Missile defense systems use military satellites to detect rocket emissions during the initial Boost Stage of a missile. But this new nuclear weapon employs the rail gun's ability to fire projectiles at ultra-high velocities, instead of using a rocket. That's why it can't be detected by today's missile defense systems! And on top of that, the re-entry vehicle also uses Stealth technology... It's so accurate that its fifty percent zone comes close to 50 meters. That's as good as the best ICBM. Snake: A highly accurate, undetectable, uninterceptable nuclear weapon. We wouldn't even be able to tell where it came from... Otacon: And that's not all. A standard ballistic missile uses a 2-stage or a 3-stage solid fuel rocket for its propulsion system. Besides costing lots of money, safely maintaining the solid rocket fuel and readying the missile for launch requires a lot of work. But a railgun-launched nuclear warhead avoids all of those problems. And it's cheap too. Snake: It's the perfect nuke. A general's dream... Otacon: And the world's nightmare.

I close my eyes. it’s December of 1998. My grandparents house, just up the street, is warm with laughter and love as we celebrate my birthday. They hand me my last present, and I can hardly wait as I tear through the wrapping. Beneath the paper is a white jewel case with bold red letters staring back at me. Metal Gear Solid. In that moment, I feel so loved, so lucky, so excited. Later, we leave their house, stepping out into the cold, snowy night. The world outside is silent, but back home, my TV glows with a comforting warmth. I eagerly open the double disc case, my hands almost trembling, and pop the game into my PS1. The screen flickers to life, and I become Snake. Everything about gaming changes for me in an instant. The graphics are incredible, the gameplay revolutionary. Footsteps in the snow alert the guards, their intelligence catching me off guard as I try and fail to shake them. I hold my breath, sneaking through the shadows, lighting a cigarette to reveal security lasers. I can’t wait to share this experience with my friends. We’ve been hearing about this game for weeks now. But tonight, it’s just me, Snake, and the late night glow of discovery. I play until I can’t keep my eyes open, completely captivated by the gameplay and soundtrack. I open my eyes. It’s 2025. My grandparents are no longer here, and the house where I grew up, where this memory was born, belongs to someone else. As I listen to this track, the years fall away and I can feel it all over again. I miss you, Grandma and Grandpa. Thank you for this wonderful memory.

Cuando me llegó la play por primera vez y venía el demo, y quedé alucinado con este juegazo. Luché y recorría cada tienda para comprarlo y nunca lo encontraba con la típica "esta agotado" y por el 2001 o 2002 en la feria lo encontré y lloré el doble de alegría porque era el último. A casa y comenzar a jugar ⚫🔴👊!. Y conservo los 4 niveles en mi Memory Card.
