What a lovely surprise. I stayed on the island for a few months forty years ago. I saw the very house - the strong blue one with a balcony overlooking the bay and next to what was then the police station - I had a room in. Amazing. Of course, after all this time, I see a geat many changes to the town and beyond, including the beach at Pontamos, where in my day there were just three other tourists, an Austrian and two Germans, and the place was very simple, just the taverna, nothing else. Wealth seems to have come to the island, perhaps from mainland Greeks having homes here, and tourism, only surely though during the summer months. Thank you for allowing me to return to the very lovely island of Halki. Robert, 75, uk.

We were there in may, we stayed in a hotel near the beach. They were putting those parasols ip when we were there, they are brand new. Was very quiet in may.
