Detailing a really dirty, nasty, stained Forester SG Wing
I am showing what I do regularly with many parts. They are dirty and I am cleaning them from whatever they have on them, as much as possible.

How To Mount Car Trim with Double Sided (3M) Tape
มุมมอง 51K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Wait, what's so hard to just glue something with Double sided tape? Here is your first mistake. I will show how to properly mount anything on the surface of your car with 1 important extra step! I will show the wrong way and the right way.
But won't the glue melt in heat and fall off anyway? Mine fails in heat of the sun.
Your demonstration is horrible you can't do it like this
I have a Subaru Forester, a 2005 model. I am looking for rear toe / camber alignment bolts which I am not able to find anywhere. Can you help? Please.
3M states cure time to 50% 20minutes 90% strength is 24hrs 100% in 72hrs. You pulled part off almost immediately. 3M also says to apply pressure to bonded part AND heat no more than 150 degrees will help the adhesive flow.
My impression of Subaru while currently owning one is, it starts off like a good idea and it's kind of cool, then the novelty wears off and you kind of realise it's an over priced version of cars that already exist and it's boxer engine design is more of an annoyance than a benefit. Really the only great thing I can say about them is the handling is great, and the AWD is good, that's it.
The mighty older Foresters with their awesome 4EATs transmissions. One of my favorite all around capable vehicles. It’s safe, practical, economical, fun, and quite capable off road. My first ever Subie was an ‘01 SF which I did everything on, including overhauling its ej251 for the infamous H/Gs. Once you a slap a set of MLS H/Gs on these little n/a motors, they become tanks! Take the time to do it right, replace all the vacuum lines, pcv, seals, gaskets, etc and you’ll have a great car for easily another 150k miles.
The adhesion might work for the one side of the tape that you're adhering the tape to, but it's basically impossible to use your method for both sides/surfaces of the tape that will come into contact with the tape.
Never doubt, he is so right ✅️
Thanks
you are a savior
Be careful with LPG, they run slightly hot on it! Then gasket problems🙉🤬
Put in an original 78C thermostat, and you are good!
So weird i couldn't find your video 1.5 years ago when i was looking into doing a mirror swap on my 04' SG XT, it would have been useful. i didn't know there is a separate harness for the turn signals that plug in the fender turn signals, that's pretty neat. I just tapped into the wires coming from my turn signal stalk and i used facelift SG mirrors with heating and auto-folding, i also made a tutorial video because i couldn't find any that explained it in detail (you can find it on my channel), but your video is pretty nice, congrats!
What would you recommend for adhering to the paint? I've tried making sure it's clean with 90% rubbing alcohol, heat, and 3M adhesive primer, and I am still having issues. I am installing a rear lip on my car, and the main body holds a good bit. The ends/ points of the lip keep popping up after a few days.
I have same black 05 x with 401000km on a manual gear box.
Vieläkö subaru toimii? Käyn huomenna katsomassa -01 300k ajettua 😅
if only you still had the forester exterior aftermarket parts….
That’s my car! I got an ‘05, 2.5X, also in green. I also love it every time something breaks. Gives me an excuse to goof off from work. Always learning.
You just sound like such a good soul and seem easily entertained in the best of ways. 10/10 content. Id love to figure out how to do this on my 04 outback
WE NEED AN UPDATE
I just finished paying off my 05 Forester L.L. Bean Edition, i fucking love it and i want to fix it so i can have it at least for another 200k miles
Me too hahaha.
thanks for the tip. been suspecting that I bought fake 3M, turns out gat I've benn doing it wrong, though it was never mentioned from 3m instructions
How much,?
The heat gun was a great idea but we shouldn't have to use heat on double sided tape to get it to stick. Personally, I think the adhesive has deteriorated probably from age and the heat gun sort of brings it back to life and makes it pliable where, without heat, it won't stick to much at all. Either that or 3M isn't properly controlling their manufacturing processes or quality standards.
great stuff my friend...
Helpful thanks mate
Great informative video man! Subscribed!
Thanks man. I was wondering what I was doing wrong. I followed the 3m instructions but it never mentioned heating and pressing. You're a life saver.
I installed mine all cold.. no heat.. worse idea ever.. My spoiler kept expanding in the heat and pushing my spoiler up like it was floating. On a hot day I pushed as hard as I could and taped it like that till the temp dropped again. I'm hoping this did the trick
Still holding?
This gas engine is soooo awesome!!
Helpful and very informative video that I need nowadays. It is not long video. it is detailed to be successful. I liked every detail. God bless you bro.
Excellent, what about the car side where will he put on the part? Any special treatment? Thank you
will you be uploading anymore content on this car?!
There’s one for 4K near me but I’m a big dude and 6’3 would this car be fine size wise? I always liked the way these looked and it’s mad cheap with lots of miles but up to date repairs and such
For somewhat of a reference I can drive a 2014 Kia Soul with comfort but cramped but still comfortable long trip
I'm 5'10" and my XS2.5 Forester has plenty more adjustment for taller people. Very comfortable interiors.
yea ur good bro i’m the same height and fit pretty nice, can be a lil snug getting in and out tho
Should make an install videi
turned a 2 minute video into 12. Love it
You can watch first couple minutes its enough haha, the rest is pretty much the comparison
i love foresters
Good advice on making it adhere better, but I don't understand what Twitter has to do with your advice.
Ahhh shoulda bought a first gen
🤩🤩🥰
My forester sport gets up hills with ease and at low rpm
I have the same x model, I want to diesel swap it and make it an off road beast. Excited to see your build.👍
Please dont diesel Swap it 😄
Do you use snow tyres or all season tyres? How many hp has your car?
These were new snow yokohamas, i sold the car few months ago
Beautiful woods!
can you use a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun
Yup, i guess so!
Yea
Do the mirrors adjust properly? JDM is right hand drive and your car is Left hand. I was told the mirrors are angled differently and require different mirror bases to work properly.
They are angled differently, at this point it was more form than function but function was still adequate
This help alot thankss
really helpful tip 👏
Excellent
Thank you, very helpful practical application. Just used it on my number plate and it worked a treat!!
This vid will help me secure my sola panal on my van using the exact same green tape thanks
