I've been looking for months for India tape here in the states, and can't find anything even comparable. If ordered online, outside the USA, you have to pay by the meter, which is expensive. How can someone in the states order a bulk roll of this? And where? If anyone knows, please reply. Thank you.
I would love more videos on how to do this!!
I have oodles of ideas but there's never enough time in the day as I'm so busy with face to face workshops. Come and join us. kind regards Jacqueline

Thank you for this incredibly clear demonstration!
Thank you so much for this incredibly clear demonstration. Your stitching is beautiful.
Excellent video thank you! I live in the USA and India tape does not exist here. I tried Joann, even Amazon but i had to settle for twill tape. So now that I have watched your video I will start wrapping my frame. You made everything so clear!
Hi, there. I so love your work! I live in the USA. Can you recommend American types of products that we can substitute in order to follow your instruction? Do you ever travel to the USA or know about similar products like lightweight cotton twill tape? Cotton India Tape just isn't avail here. I am on my first lampshade and trying to find support in my quest to recover a first lampshade, a task that is almost extinct, here. Seems like most would let it die than give up the instruction of passing on the light. I am just looking to create good work and light. This art is clearly a dying one unless you appreciate beauty. Best to keep it alive and thriving!
What about the struts?
I usually do an extra wrap across the struts to ensure enough tape for stitching when needed ... hope this helps
Yes, originally lampshade frames were wrapped using scraps lining fabric cut on the cross. Cotton India tape is a modern alternative.
Can you use biased tape if you don't have India tape?
Gorgeous!
thank u so much!!!
Can you upload more videos???
Working on it :)
Do you have a DVD i struction available? Or online classes? I've always wanted to learn to make lampshades and can't find any information.
how do you add a liner?
Hi Julia... I don’t have a video yet on lining a lampshade. There’s lots of options. I have Blogs on my website covering 2 different styles of lining. www.JSInteriors.UK
Is there a noticeable difference between the cotton India tape and cotton twill tape that I can find readily in the US?
I’ve always used cotton India tape.. from what I know of twill it would be possible to use but be careful it’s not too thick or too wide. The cotton Indian tape l use is very thin very pliable and approx 1cm wide. This works for most frames.
Did you ever find a substitution here in US that worked to replace India tape?
Thank you! Very informative
I hope you make more videos because this was really high quality. I have watched a bunch, and this is one of the best ones I have seen so far.
Finally, someone showing how to do it properly!
You should also mention scarves, as you can pick up cheap scarves either in high st shops Indian shops or charity shops. Here in France I buy silk scarves from a stall in the street market they are shakilly printed in India on scraps but still quite big, or are parts of seconds saris that are all hemmed, I pay 5 euros each and there is more than enough for a lampshade. Best wishes xo
This was excellent teaching. Thank you. I hope to create my own gathered lampshade some day (sooner rather than later). Your vlogs are very inspiring 🧵✂️💡
I'd love to see a video of how you got to this point. This is the best demonstration I've seen so far.
I'm working on it :)
