I have worked in education for 8 years with 5 years of that time in Elementary. I am passionate about opening a home childcare as well. I have a now two year old and Monday-Friday we follow a schedule just as I had when I was in the preschool/childcare field. There are so many things I am going to do differently with my business and you're right EXCELLENCE is what attracts people. I am about QUALITY over numbers and really focusing on developing the whole child.

I just found your videos and have been enjoying them! I have a full time job working from home as a medical coder. I would like do home childcare but I would like to work with parents who have to work odd hours like maybe the weekends or evenings when most daycares are closed. I used to work for head start and actually had a CDA. This was in the 90’s. Now that my daughter is grown, I realize that I miss working with kids. Do you think there is a niche for what I want to do? Also, how much goes into wanting to use your vehicle as transportation if you want to go on outings or have to pick kids up from school?

How are infants the way to go yes they could be in your daycare for a longer. Of time till they go to school Etc but you have to go with fewer infants or pay more staff

Good advice about building a team. I wonder what I would do if I got sick or needed to take an emergency day. I need a team to discuss best strategies to account for days when I am not available. What if I wanted to go to a seminar or training class? If I don't have a team, I won't be able to grow as a provider and take advantage of knowledge or develop skill if I don't have a team. The information about sharing is fabulous and it is my philosophy in this venture! I decided to work at a daycare prior to opening my own. I though I would get a feel of what it's like to do child care and to learn from professionals. To my surprise, the facility had a No Compete clause stating I would not open a child care facility within 20 miles for 2 years! Unbelievable! Thanks for sharing.
