This is insane. It’s just the three of them. Just guitars and drums. No violins. No keyboards. The energy level is crazy. The crowd is eating it up! Robbie is wired. I miss those days. Watch a recent show. They have 6 musicians. The crowd acts like they’ve been sedated with painkillers lol.

1996 Rapid City Civic Center. I don't remember if I picked up a t-shirt or not. I still have an old blue AIC shirt from 96. Mr. Brad Downes and I hung out in the parking lot at mid-show. I don't even remember what we talked about, really.

I was the one who recorded this show. A couple things I want to mention about this particular show. Every now and then the tape skips (I just ran through it and it happens before "Name"), this was due to a voice activation knob on the recorder which was set low... Also, the show ends at "String of Lies".. they left the stage, the house lights and music came on.... 3/4 of the fans left.. then like 15 minutes later, they came out and did "8675309 / Jenny".. Other than the Paradise gig from 1993 (which is on my page), this was my second favorite Goo Goo Dolls show.

This was the PunkRock GooGoodolls in the early 90s and theyve changed their music thru the years and went to mainstream.. they are no longer playing some of those songs in their current concerts.. I hope they will play those again soon..

Here in 2024.. looking back it's great to see all the success that was waiting for them. My favorite band of all time. What a career.

it's a damn shame people only talk about Name from this album (great song but not one of my faves) this is a hard rocking alternative album that shows the goo goo dolls weren't always a "sappy,ballady" band.
