Speaker volume not good!
Just got the cutter: absolutely excellent! I tested it on 3/4” red oak, and I made sure the arc of my template ran through plenty of end grain. The cut was as smooth as glass, and I was removing 5/64”-exactly what I do with my shaper tooling. I highly recommend it to everyone, but it must be used with some sort of guard in place; it’s a big cutter, and, as a result, the cutting force generated by the bit is considerable. Please be safe everyone!

@@Rogerswoodworkx Thanks! I appreciate it
If Whiteside doesn't sell a version of it, it's probably because it's too dangerous. Also you should have trimmed corner down first with jigsaw.

If I understand it right my jet 8” jointer helical 15mm X 15mm inserts are the same as the ones in my grizzly 13” helical planer . Do you know if these these 12mm X 12mm inserts are interchangeable ? In case of back order issues that could arise
@@gandjboyd7872 not sure entirely, although there at a lot of them that are the same. Some manufacturers may be different
I bought one of these in may of 2017 , it’s currently still in the box unopened ,My wife and I were looking for a house with a garage or shop in 2017 , I did open the 2HP Grizzly dust collector I bought a few weeks later (June 2017) when we finally bought a garage with attached house (Dec2017) . So far I use my Kreg pocket hole jig (most often used) or Porter Cable biscuit joiner
@@gandjboyd7872 Yeah, when possible I like to have an appropriate tool or jig to add precision as much as possible and I felt this did that great for me! Some have expressed they didn’t like them, and I’m sure I could’ve made one as well but this does what I want from it and I suppose that’s all that matters!
@ I work 6 days a week , I get home on Friday night and leave out on Sunday morning. I like Rockler ,Kreg , Woodcraft , Grizzly ect. not only for precision but time savings , I rather spend what little time I have making projects instead of making jigs to make the projects … when I need it I’ll have it .
@ Very true! I am blessed to be home every night and many of those nights are spent in the wood shop! It is truly better for me to have accurate tools to make better projects!
The jig is not only pointless, it’s a piece of crap. I have one and the holes for the guide bar are so far off, it’s unusable. When it arrived the casting was so poor, I had to use a dremel to mount the hold down. Save your money. A few scrap pieces of of plywood and ten minutes of you time, you can make one that sits on your table saw fence. On top of all that, it will scratch the table saw top. Grizzly would not even supply a box and packing to return it. If you’re still not convinced, send me a box, packing, and a shipping label, and I’ll send you the one I have free of charge just to get it out of my shop!
I bought the same item and it was defective. The “side support” - the plate that you clamp the piece on - was not square horizontally and there’s no way to adjust it. You can adjust it vertically, but not horizontally. This made all of the tenons skewed so that they ended up twisted. I talked to support but they couldn’t help. Caveat emptor.
@@rlevitta Wow! That stinks! I honestly didn’t even check that, but thinking about it, mine was a bit tight in the miter slot so I took it apart to add nylon shims. Possibly could’ve adjusted slightly where it bolted to the miter slot! However mine must be right because the joint was nice and tight and square.
Nice addition to your shop !
@@mycowboyways915 thanks! Hopefully I get lots of use with it!
Try it with sucking up water. Mine worked fine for picking up sawdust and dry things, but as soon as i popped the filter out and tried sucking up some water, it didn’t work at all. The water went halfway up the hose and then just spilled back out. Maybe i’m doing something wrong?
@@ericm2235 yeah I never tried that! I had purchased strictly for my woodshop and to act as a dust collector for my table saw, which it does great for! Haven’t tried any liquids though
@ Actually it turns out i’m just a dummy. I had the head on backwards, works fine with water.
@ good deal! Glad it works!!
Thx for this unboxing & demo. Like another commenter, I’d be interested in your long term review, especially whether or not it’s a time-save overall - accounting for time spent making set up and all adjustments. My shop made high fence & mitre gauge have been working, but I’ll consider this investment if it saves time and increases accuracy. Certainly a tool to consider.
@@G.I.JeffsWorkbench yeah I’m more concerned about the accuracy! Seems no matter how I done it before was a bit of a chore and less accurate for sure! So for me it is worth the time! But I’ll do an update once I get more experience!
I hope at a later date you can revisit this tool Brad with your extended experience. In the video you showed making just one joint. I would like to learn of your experience using this jig on truly making doors where you have to make multiple joints on multiple pieces to create several doors. Oftentimes depending upon the boards you would have wood movement over these deep cuts making assembly difficult. I have had one of these jigs by Delta for many years but gave up on it for other methods. My level of expectations and patience collided where others might not. I might have to give it another go.
@@heystarfish100 yes I need to get some experience with it for sure and see what the ins and outs are! I have made these types of joints with table saws, routers, etc, and figured if nothing else this would be quicker at least!
I have one it takes about 5 minutes to fill and you have to wait for it to rebuild pressure every time you use it and yes its loud.
@@deanlockamy2087 I’ve recently added the McGraw 20 gallon compressor which does use oil. Quieter and quicker to build pressure. Been planning on a video for it, just haven’t made time!
If you add a wood filler strip (inch thick or so) to the back support you don’t have to worry about hitting it with the blade! The blade will cut the wood before it gets to the blade!
@@donbass6657 wasn’t thinking of that! Good idea!!

@@RYwoodview Yeah I’m sure most were made in the same factory, or at least same spec!
Thanks great video
@@stevereynolds5095 Thank you for watching! I appreciate that
Beast! yes, that was my reaction then I got mine. It is VERY aggressive, be careful when using the pattern on the bottom of the workpiece. If the work piece is somewhat narrow, it can easily tip into cutters and ruin your part at the least, yourself worst case. Prefer mounting the pattern on top of the workpiece so it can't tip into the bit.
@@ray1283 I agree!!
That router bit looks like it will be a good purchase Brad. I just ordered a two cutter vertical end mill router bit that uses those same carbide inserts that I am waiting to receive as my first entry into this sort of technology. I have a Whiteside solid carbide compression bit for pattern work already but yours would be moe ideal as you can rotate or change out the individual cutters if necessary which extends the life of the bit dramatically. Good video demonstration to end the year. 😎👍
@@heystarfish100 I appreciate that! Technology sure has came a long way!

@@carsonkeele5015 Twist the knob

@ no, not at all. May have gotten a defective one. Try turning both directions?
I tried a few Banggood tools and for the most part they are good. But be aware of router bit shank size, I got one that is 12mm not 1/2". Banggood wasnt a lot of help... Send issue is the router sled with a Miter bar. The Miter bar is for European (metric) miter slots. I was hoping to buy a new miter gauge for my table saw, but will have the same issue I would suppose. SO measure and ask questions before you order. Returning to banggood probably would be prohibitively expensive with postage, and customs fees. You buy it you own it.
8:05 - Standing in front of the sander! HAHAHA! Just kidding, man. You set yourself up for that one. Thanks for the helpful video. I just ordered one an hour ago, and saw your review on amazon, which brought me here.
I just got an order from Banggood, most of the tools were what I expected, one router bit was listed at 1/2" 12mm .............. I got a 12mm shank, the rest of the bit is larger than 1/2". Im working to resolve this, was told shipping and customs sending back could be EXPENSIVE. Ive escalated to speak to a supervisor. Hope Im not out the price of the bit because a return is too expensive. I doubt if ANYone in USA can use a 12mm shank...
PS I was expecting a 1/2" shank,
@@richarddpetersen169 of course some things aren’t perfect, I have personally had a couple bad ones myself, but for the most part of what I was showing I was well satisfied! @@preckpreck1776 is it a lot? Do you have the air filter and air filter cover installed?
Rotate the top. Power button should be lined up to the inlet port. Drove me bonkers until I realized I had it backwards.
Adding the bag attachment for inside the shop vac should help with keeping the filter cleaner allowing the vacuum to keep a constant level of suction longer. It would be cool if you can attach straight to the saw so as you use it it will suck the debris.
