    In 1964, PAP took part in the Malaysia Election and won one seat of Bungsar with the same logo of 'a circle and a dangerous lightning' for it does not strike at the same point twice. Today, we have 'a killer lightning' even under the shelter of an umbrella.

    Just a point of note. Most countries that place a term limit on their head of government have a presidential or a semi-presidential system. Singapore, on the other hand, and also Germany (since you mentioned its ex-Chancellor), have a parliamentary system. As far as I know, and I am ready to stand corrected, parliamentary systems do not typically place a limit on their Prime Minister's term. Although, again as far as I am aware, there is nothing stopping a parliamentary system from setting such a limit. But there is no right or wrong about this. It is mostly just different traditions, and different beliefs about different political set ups. I know that this is not the main point of your entire video. But just thought I should mention it, since people might not realise that the USA and France are not parliamentary systems.

    The USA doesn't actually have term limits on presidencies. George Washington served two terms and it just became tradition for any president to not serve more than two terms. Except in unique situations, like WWII when Roosevelt had a 3rd term.

      Happy to continue to try to work things out. To me, Wong's and Obama's speeches both have similar substances e.g. 1. Both their speeches mention that long-term thinking is important (as opposed to Liz Truss' short-term thinking, for example) 2. Both their speeches mention that it's important to keep old ideals while trying new ideas 3. Both their speeches mention that building global relationships is important (as opposed to Trump, whose had protectionist policies) May I have your thoughts?

    • @rogerchung260
      @rogerchung260 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      His speech is OK. Obama's speech was full of "BS" and if you do a scorecard, he did not achieve most especially racial equality for blacks. Obama also initiated the "contain China" strategy which he also failed, they need China to bail the global economy out of the GFC. Obama is a great orator...but a failure in many key areas. Nothing, PM said in his speech was spectacular as the world especially SE Asia knew the need to balance the 2 giants at our door steps; Singapore deemed very Pro-US in the eyes of China (a hole, we have dug). On the home front, Singapore has several domestic issues we all know: migrant workers, jobs for locals, inflation, property prices, etc. All these are work in progress...which is why we are paying our ministers are so well paid to do. So like someone here commented; "standard speech" ...I agree but Wong add a more personal and people touch to it than any speech by former PM Lee Hsien Long (which you should compare to, Obama is a eloquent orator and huge EQ)

    I don't think they were all that similar. There are some broad similarities in certain areas, but those are more due to thematic convergence, for want of a better term, just as F1 cars look similar due to aeronautical considerations. Also, I don't view Obama highly, far too much of a coward to challenge entrenched interests, more interested in being fawned over by the glitterati. He's the main reason Trump got elected, because he was such a failure that the majority gave up on standard politics. But that's a whole other discussion. Anyway, I wish PM Wong and Singapore all the best in these challenging times.

    The only reason there's all this talk about Vancouver being a lawless dangerous city recently, is because on the election is coming up and are using that as a way to undermine the liberal government. Vancouver is a pretty damn safe city overall. I hate how right-wing supporters have slandered and ruined Vancouver's image basically online. Everyone thinks it's a hell hole. They have videos of people going up and down East Hastings which is only like a two block area. 98% of the city is absolutely beautiful. With Parks everywhere and it's just a shame. Some people actually do believe it's dangerous because of that. They don't know what a real dangerous city is like. Vancouver is wonderful.

  • @weiwenleung

      Not bad though overall. It's going to be the same in any metropolis city you live in. And what do you mean people smoking drugs? On East Hastings sure. On granville? Maybe on the occasion you'll see someone. 98% of the rest of the city? It's pretty rare to see that. I do Uber Eats 90 hours a week. Yes 90 hours a week in vancouver. I drive all around the city basically all day everyday. I just don't see the issues you're seeing, maybe I'm just more tolerant to them and let the occasional sighting of that stuff slip by my subconscious. In fact in all my hours of doing Uber Eats in this city I don't even think I've witnessed one crime taking place one fight, or anything like that really. Never had my car broken into. I'm not saying it doesn't happen it's just not a relatively big issue in Vancouver. If you go to some cities in the states it'll make Vancouver look like such a cakewalk

    He’s not completely wrong actually. The police investigate themselves so human trafficking, assaults and robberies are very commonplace. More so than many other countries. I’ve witnessed many such crimes first hand and often little or nothing is done. Also crimes by minorities are almost exclusively pursued. There are criminals in jail though they are about 90% foreign or non-white individuals. The canadians do not record their prisoners properly and often label black and Hispanic as white so this is inaccurately reflected in their ‘official’ statistics. Also there is a massive homeless problem masked again by inaccurate recording. They only use people on ei and other social benefits to track that number and it’s only a tiny fraction of the actual homeless. Still that number is at 6% or the same as Sudan on of the most poverty stricken areas in the world. canada really isn’t that great of an area to live especially as a visible minority where you have almost zero human rights. They are great at media campaigns however and give a false impression of a safe community.
