    I think my oil pump went out but my car was doing fine until I changed the oil pressure sensor & hour later I ended up stranded with no oil pressure the motor started knockin for a few seconds so I turned it off but it never started again I’m hoping that’s just a safety feature my motor only has 104k on it

    Hi Tyler... my 2005 Lacrosse with 3800 is in the shop right now. It had a coolant leak at the timing cover repaired - gasket blow-out. That is now fixed, but when it was put back together, I now have low oil pressure light on and a ticking noise at top of engine (not getting oil up there). Any ideas on how a gasket swap on that housing could have screwed up my oil pressure? Thanks!

    • @tylerlanders9482
      @tylerlanders9482 ปีที่แล้ว

      3800 usually have a little bit of valve train noise but if it's not carrying good oil pressure I would say either the oil pump is bad or it's not sealed up properly allowing it to draw air or lose suction somehow another possibility would be the main bearings are gone can't carry oil pressure if there's nothing to oil although you said it was carrying pressure just fine beforehand I would say it's not sealed up somewhere

    Hi there.Just stummbled across your channel . Im curious about your 97 firebird with the 3800 V6 . You see i just bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and wanted to research on the oil pump replacement proceedure .Now there are differences between yours and mine .but the engine's are pretty much the same. But what I wanted to know about your engine is what side of the block is the starter located on?. My car is front wheel drive so the engineers moved the location from the passenger side of the rear wheel drive to the drivers side to accommodate the transaxle on future layouts . Ive researched this Buick design starting back in 1961 .It was known as the fireball . But that was the beginnings of a good dependable reliable engine. So if you could help me out with my question that would be much appreciated. Thanks

    U said it stopped carrying oil pressure. Do you mean completely like 0psi? Cause mine was running 60psi in throttle and 50ish idle. Now it's 48 to low 50s in throttle hard an like 42 cruising and drops to like 32 an as low as 28 at idle I'm getting worried. But had to other problem no nose no burning oil what y'all think
