    God Bless you ! You are a brave young woman to make these videos to try to help others. My son was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when he was 24 and had a 4 month old daughter. He had surgery, chemo & radiation and did lose his hair. His daughter is now 17, he also has 3 more children and has been cancer free for 15 years. His hair did come back but later lost some of it again to normal male pattern baldness. My hope for you is that this time will some day be a distant memory as you enjoy your time with your son & husband growing older on that front porch!

    Ooooo! Ooooo! This is almost my story. I had symptoms of long COVID which included my sense of smell and a resting heart rate that was steadily increasing along with it jumping really high if I just ran up the stairs. Long story short I go to urgent care and they send me directly to the ER because my EKG was wonky. So here is where our stories merge. I pass all the bloodwork, they give me a lung X-ray & CT and the only thing that was noted on the CT scan was an enlarged lymph node & to recheck in 2-3 months. Did that & they said it was still enlarged and they sent me to a pulmonologist. He didn’t think it was anything but out of an abundance of caution he ordered a bronchoscopy. Turns out that lymph node was cancer. I’m sure he could tell immediately with the scope so he took a biopsy of it along with some lymph nodes. I got the news on a Monday, hat an MRI of my brain and a pet scan. The only thing that lit up was one one place it was - so no spread. I had to wait 3 weeks for the operation and they removed the entire lobe it was in (each lung has multiple lobes). The doc also took a boatload of lymph nodes and confirmed no spread. At that point you are considered cured. Seriously. No chemo. No radiation.

    I really wanted to know more about your conversations with your surgeon & oncologist afterwards ... and what he/she explained happened and his best guess as to why. Sharing information is often how we learn important facts which some doctors neglect to be forthright about. So, your experiences with certain treatments and your side effects are hugely important to me since my diagnosis. I will always hope for the best, but I also must be realistic and be prepared for the worst.

    I can't help but wonder if you had the cancer when you have your tissue removed 5 years ago. Typically, this type of cancer starts years before it shows up and causes issues, so maybe back then when they removed the tissue it caused the tumor to spread. Which is why I'm not a fan of Biopsy, you poke it, who knows what happens. You are in my prayers, sending you good vibes and healing prayers. Stay strong!!

    As a 20 year survivor of Breast Cancer (surgery chemo radiation and adjunctive therapy), the best I can offer is take day by day step by step…. The hair thing is traumatic no matter what you do….. so be prepared….yup hair is hair…all gone….once it started to fall out I had my sister-in- law to cut it off and I started wearing a head wrap….always looking like I just got out of the shower….I had the wig and only wore it because I worked full-time but honestly, they get to be very uncomfortable and very warm to wear…just like a hat…. Everyone’s situation is different but Like I said take things day by day…. No one is promised tomorrow…. Not even the neighbor who left their house heathy as can be going to the gym. Hang in there. ❤️❤️❤️

    I would bet my money that you had Cancer when you had your surgery five years ago. I believe that because it takes time for you to get to Stage 4. That would be a quick time line for progression, regardless of when it actually began. I am so sorry. May you receive every blessing that your God has to give. 💞

      It does take time, but for someone like her and me, it often doesn’t take long. For an older woman without a predisposition to cancer, it would likely take years; for someone like us, it can and does happen in months very often. Those of us who have a genetic predisposition to cancer (as she does) often get very fast-growing cancers. I had very aggressive breast cancer at age 34. I had scans and a mammogram 10 months earlier and it was not there. It grew from nothing to larger than a grape in 10 months. It grew noticeably (by sight and feel) in the 3 weeks between finding it and having it removed. I work in genetics and I see people on a daily basis who have a genetic predisposition like I do who get cancer that grows very quickly. Even if a person does not have a genetic variant which predisposes them to cancer, cancers such as triple negative and HER2 positive often have explosive growth rates. There are upsides for those of us with a predisposition to cancer. It can mean that targeted therapies often work better for us than for others with a similar cancer and no genetic predisposition. It can open clinical trials. Also, platinum based chemos usually work better for us than they do for those without a predisposition.

    Jamie, my prayers are with you in this journey. I am in remission of colon cancer. My chemo did not take my hair, but I loved your talk about it. I had midback length hair and my first thought, after they said chemo, was of my hair hanging in the toilet as I got sick. I too felt that I had no control of anything in my life. One day I got up and thought that the only thing I could control was my hair style. I promptly put it in a ponytail and chopped it off. 😢 It was far from straight and I wore it that way for several months, because I had control and wasn't going to let anyone take that from me. I was so tickled by someone else talking about loosing our control. No One would understand this other than another cancer warrior. Blessing to you through your fight. You are strong and your attitude going in is a bright light. We have little control, but we have the strength to keep fighting cancer. You are winner!!!

    • @coffeecarbsclutter
      @coffeecarbsclutter 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I know you did not mean this to make me laugh but I had to laugh at the thought of chopping off your own hair. I completely understand about needing that control. Having watched my mom and sister go through this, I knew in my head that things would be chaotic but until I experienced it for myself, I did not appreciate how chaotic life is now. Between running to appointments, fighting with insurance, and trying to recover from the surgery, life is whirlwind.

      Hi, it's me. I"m the Problem it's me. (Apologies to any Taylor Swift fans, I couldn't help it). Our kitchen usually doesn't look this bad, it's only times when we are crazy busy or sick. In this case it was a mix of me being sick and my husband being crazy busy. If I had been able to do it in one day, it would have taken about an hour to clean up but I just can't do that right now. I have been considering giving myself the grace of using disposable plates and silverware during this time but I just have not been able to bring myself to do that. Thankfully, bathrooms and bedrooms stay tidy but this kitchen...Yikes! It literally takes one day of skipping doing dishes and it builds up like this video. In fact, I almost did not film this video because it is not how our home normally looks but then I thought, "There are other people who struggle with this and this is an opportunity to show how small steps can lead to big rewards." Thank you for your kind words and support. 🤗

    I understand how you feel about losing control. When I was 22 I was very ill with my Crohn’s disease. I had four major surgeries over three years with nurses coming to my home for months at a time post operatively, doctor’s appointments, tests, etc. I had very little control over my life. I put my life on hold at what should have been an exciting time of my life. I was blessed though that I had a supportive family and a boyfriend (now husband) that stood by me.

    I really believe by sharing your story you will help at least one person but possibly more. I also think it’s good for our mental health when we open up and talk about our struggles in life whatever they may be. I’m glad to see you on your legs now but of course it’s one day at a time. I suffer with back pain so I clean a bit then I sit for a bit. We adapt as needed. Just remember rest is so important and if we’re tired our bodies are telling us to slow down. You are going through an overwhelming time right now so just remember to give yourself grace. This is a time when you have to be kind to yourself. I’m so glad you are blessed with a wonderful husband who accompanies you to as many appointments as he can. Sending prayers and love from Canada.❤️🙏

      It’s funny how God works. I’ve had to learn to slow down and rest, especially these last couple of months. It’s been a huge learning experience and I’m so grateful for the lessons learned! I am grateful for the decluttering I had done in my home prior to this as it has allowed us to mostly stay on top of things, kitchen not withstanding. It is all just overwhelming but I am grateful to have a home and be blessed with messes when some many right now are losing everything.

    I've been thinking of you since your first cancer diagnosis video I saw. You said something about how your goal was to declutter your house and now you were faced with this and you never know when something like this could happen. That r eally made me think. I pray that you beat this. God holds your future. Love you!

      It is amazing how life takes unexpected turns. One day I am moving a ton of stuff into my office because we were getting ready to do some DIY Renovations and the next, I am facing a life altering situation. I won't lie, there are days when I am like, "Really Lord? Why Me? Why Do I always have to fight to survive every few years?" but then I think to myself, "Why not me? I am no different than anyone else who has to face trials in life." Again I think back to Horatio Spafford's story. He had every reason in the world to shun God, give up, lose his faith, and yet through it all, he remained steadfast in the Promise of our Lord. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. I truly appreciate each and every one of them. ❤
