Nights = less DRAMA and way less BS & More Pay! Nights & Weekend differential combined is 50% more pay. I ❤️ it!!!

I do night shift now because I am trying to day trade in the stock market from 9:30-1600. But I also agree that things are much more calm during nights however there is less resources.

When you work day shift, do you do focused assessments before Med pass? When do you do Head to Toe on day shift?

I thought that I would never work night shift but then I did and i had to quickly adapt to sleeping during the day and being awake all night. I did for 4 years prior to being a mom. Now that im a mom, i would not want to work night shift.

I love nurse shift as a nurse for those same reasons that you listed. I’ve been doing so for the last four years now and I love it. In total I’ve work 14 years in the night if you add my previous jobs. It’s cool, calming and relaxing at night and I get to do a lot of reading and research. For nursing, I get to avoid the office bureaucracy, politics, drama, and those ones with big ego!

Night shift and it is all I’ll do. I like calm and quiet and I don’t like to talk so it works best for me.

I worked nights my first two years of nursing and I loved it. I worked mornings the first 1.5 months prior to switching to nights. I was literally contemplating my life due to all the stress and mental toll and switching to nights was the best thing for me for that time. I currently work swing shift at a different hospital and I love this shift too. Although I love working nights my body wasn't loving it, but I'm surely not a morning person anyway AND mornings are too busy. So swing shift is perfect. It's busy the first few hours then it generally gets calmer for the rest of the shift.

I don’t understand. Number one why did you return for a second shift? And number two why didn’t you just tell the manager the truth? What was the point of lying? Actually why didn’t you clock out early on the first shift???

I worked night shift for many years and yes the calmness of night worked for me. It took my body and brain sometime to get used to working days. It was my choice to switch things and so that gave me the option to grab a night shift if I wanted to.

Loved the night shift. I had more time for my patients and listened to so many deep and intimate stories from them. Sometimes, they had very problematic concerns, even more than their medical issues, and needed to vent to an empathetic person. I felt blessed when I could help with more than their physical healing.

I worked night shift for 5 years before going full time days for family reasons, and let me tell you how unhappy I have been with the amount of workload we have to do on days and management. I have PTSD with dayshift, I am evening switching specialties. Idc if I don’t sleep in my bed at night, I sleep on it during the day 😅 I cannot wait until I can go back to my night shift peaceful life.

I chose to work the night shift because I couldn't afford a babysitter. My husband worked days so I worked nights. I loved the nights the nurses I met worked well together. I was a technician in CCU, ER and step-down our patients were easier to work with. Once I finish nursing school I will only work night. Too much drama on days.
