2005 Suzuki Eiger 400 Carburator
This is a video while I was cleaning the carb of a 2005 Suzuki Eiger 400. I noted the choke positions since I have seen the question asked a few times.

    Seeing this was made 10 years ago, I’m not expecting too rapid response? Mine runs quite good ,even after the 16 years!

    Are you still sure about the choke lever? My 2007 runs perfectly with the choke all the way up. It sputters like it’s choked when it’s down . I wonder if mine or yours got reversed?

    you can actually get a petcock for those for around $8 on ebay. Juszt did mine to get rid of the vacuum operated one . I can give you a part no. if you like. It matches perfectly for fitment with the oem one and the draw tubes are the same length also.

    My 05 Eiger was turning the header blood red on startup. I took the carb apart an cleaned the Jets. I used carb cleaner an compressed air an small wire to fully clean Jets. Runs great now.

    No videos show HOW to REMOVE the carb from the machine!

    • @SuperCyril2
      @SuperCyril2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not hard to remove. Work on the carb from the fuel control valve side. Remove rubber air box boot from back of carb. Disconnect the throttle cable from inside the black plastic cover on carb. Disconnect fuel line an it should come out.

    My Eiger got gas in the air filter compartment and in the engine.Took the plug out and the cylinder was filled with gas also,but I didn't realize this. When I turned it over the gas was pushed out and the spark from the coil wire caused the gas to explode and catch fire,burning my wires up and burning some of my hair. Had to get a new wiring harness and now the four wheel drive doesn't work and it sputters when the throttle is turned. This was a bad design petcock and has caused many people problems. Suzuki will deny any wrongdoing but they know all about this defect. Ebay had a replacement petcock for around $15 that is aftermarket. Be careful with this design and check your oil level often so if you do get fuel in the crankcase you won't ruin your engine.

    change the main jet needle from the original 122 to a 128 ., most of the problems for this quads they get fuel starve . and is way they only run on choke or can't idle because no enough fuel., and the petcock tend to go bad ., my run on prime and "on" is like shut., change or repair it .

    please help i have a 2004 or 2005 suzuki edgier quadrunner 400 just as described in your video. The fuel petcock had went bad and fuel got into the crankcase and mixed with the oil and started spillining out the air box going all over the floor. I replaced the petcock and rebuilt the carb. only thing is, is the fourwheeler has a hard time starting and when it does you can rev it up as much as you want but no madder how long you run it it wont idle. why? I also noteiced that the intake exaust was red too. I also tried replacing the spark plug but no change. Please help thanks

    How do you adjust the fuel mixture? My 400 kingquad uses this carb and it's running rich.

    • @scottfrye5535
      @scottfrye5535 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take carburetor off you will have a silver plate drill slightly not to deep get a pick pull the plate out turn screw to left to adjust air mixture after you put the carburetor back on. Get rid of factory peacock plug the hose off that went to fuel peacock. Make sure to cut gas off when not in use.

    i just found out something new about the carbs if it boggles out and backfires it could be the float..i cleaned my carb and jets and my atv still wouldnt go past 30 mpg.so i turned my carb to the right like 3 o clock and it works fine now..so i know its float..so if u run in to choke problem try to check float..save time on rebuilding carb..

      kelsey moe hi I have the exact same problem on suzuki eiger 400 4x4 don't go over 45 mph, so do you think is just the float? I have to change it?

    I took the fuel shut off valve on my 03 Eiger an swapped it out for a 660 raptor one.it bolted right on,then i just blocked off the port on the top of the carb were the vacuum line went to for the original shut off valve with a piece of hose an screwed a bolt down in it. now i have ON/OFF/RES then i put a mini clear "in line fuel filter" on the gas line hose that runs from tank to the carb

    • @jaysoncook5661
      @jaysoncook5661 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you leave the petcock on does it still drain fuel into the airbox and ultimately into the crank case? I have the petcock replaced and the vacuum plugged but if i shut off the quad and leave the petcock in the on position it will flood.

    could a choke being stuck cause the quad to idle fine but as soon as you hit the gas it spits and sputters?? Buddy of mine is having this issue he has cleaned the carb a few times now also cleaned out the fuel tank. Any suggestions would be great he has the same eiger as you.

    I have fuel flowing into my air filter box now. So I figure my pepcock is bad. How did your set up work. Also I just ordered a carb rebuild kit. Any other advice you can give.

  • @Scotipino

    How do you get the darn carb off? I loosened the clamps on the hoses on both the air filter side and engine side. Don't see anywhere else where it might be affixed. Do you have to peel off a bunch of parts to get to the carb?

    • @NLINE7
      @NLINE7 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should be loose air intake and two nuts engine side as you did, then disconnect throttle cable- (access it through little black cover with the philip screws) then a overflow vent tube and it should come right out.

    i just got an 05 Eiger a couple weeks ago that has been sitting for a couple years. i got it cheap enough that i could invest a little money with time in getting it running and cleaned up. ive ran into everything possible just short of buying a new carb. all of the problems mine was having was a lean mixture. after a carb rebuild and adjust the idle mixture as rich as it will go it finally idles great and runs pretty decent. its still lacking a little fuel so i ordered a jet kit to fix thaT
