Before Disco there was Discotheque from approximately 1968 to 1974. Leading the dance floors were the divas I have sampled here from their most popular dance floor and turntable hits (many crossing over to radio); Love Unlimited, Dorothy Moore, Ruby Winters, Marlena Shaw, Candi Staton, Judy Clay, The Three Degrees, Lyn Collins, The Sweet Inspirations, Inez Foxx, First Choice, Esther Phillips, B...

November 11, 1964, appearance on SHINDIG for this group from WARNER BROS. LORNA RECORDS which some viewed as an attempt to garner the MOTOWN and SUPREMES fans. The label and the group never succeeded but did have some success in England with the NORTHERN SOUL fans. Here I have extended and remixed the original video and audio. Original audio and video are of poor quality. I have attempted some ...

I Love the Supremes back in 1965 Florence what a beautiful person
Fantastic song.
Love this❤
Vermettya Royster killing it during final chorus. She is the most phenomenal vocalist I’ve ever heard, a female Ruffin/Womack and DeeDee Warwick all in one.
My beautiful Aunt Margie sings here.
Wunderschön ❤
How many behind TT back was Ike banging?
See those daisies on the wall? Whoever had my apartment before me put some up on the tiles around the tub. And I liked them, so I left them there.
When they went to the UK Tina and the girls drove those British boys crazy
Listen - Xuxa jogo da Rima.
Who is Tina?
Tina Turner is not in this video.
@@rogerspencer I see , thank you
Amen! I love it!
Lesley Gore was such a huge, under-appreciated talent. Her gleaming blue eyes and angelic voice. Something’s off with the sound though, her voice sounds muffled and nothing like her own voice. Maybe it’s the use of background singers that muddy the voice. Anyone else notice?
It may be the quality of the video's audio that I converted from a DVD (which was converted from original television tape).
Yes she is singing along with the track of her single and yes It's a little muddy sounding but it was a nice record and it make the charts but only got to around No. 56 or somewhere in that area - it should have done better on the Pop Charts -
Hot!!!
hot!
Glory😊❤
Go Girl.....😮
I would have told the comedian to shut up,,
Awesome
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡👍👍👍👍
Beautiful sexy lady
Ok how was that a gospel song OMG that was just entertainment for the audience
Who the hell was still using an accordian after the Beatles arrived ? The Band did at the end of the 60s and maybe Nils Lofgren, but it was so out of date by then.

What a great group from the music to the lyrics, and I loved them. My dad promoted them in New Jersey for years until he got sick. WRLB RADIO STATION IN LONG BRANCH NJ. OH , WHAT A GOOD TIME ❤❤❤❤
lovely song, from the 1960:s Count Me In
I live in Louisville Kentucky, l cross the river , in I believe 1973, to watch Gary Lewis. Add a place called the garage. In Indiana, Small place only about a hundred people. He was great, and funny too. He got hot, and he said don't this damn place have an air conditioner. Everyone of us died laughing. We were sweating our asses off. And we weren't even performing. Great times though.
He is an upright cat partly because he served his country while being a rock star.
Real talent! Leslie is singing live!
I love this music, Gary Lewis was/is a great talent It’s always annoying to me when performers lip sync plus the fact the electric guitars aren’t even plugged in!
💜💥
Music that u will remember
NO ONE IS EVEN PLUGGED IN !!!
IK I always find that so dam annoying! UGH, lip syncing is a disgrace!
This group never played " live" on television ...
This is absolutely a great song as well as I Will Survive
Rare and precious footage from a time when AIDS was still a rare disease, (one AIDS Commitee of Toronto sign @ 09:33 ) soon to change the lives many of the people in this video. The chant would go from 'Gay Rights Now!' to AIDS Action Now!' within a couple of years. I love how we were allowed half of Yonge, and happy to get that! To think most of the celebrations took place behind the 519 around the swings and kiddie pool, seems so quaint. I was there somewhere! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for viewing and taking the time to reply. If my memory serves correctly we weren't really allowed that half of Yonge St. in the early years. The crowds grew from the sidewalk marches and the powers that be eventually had no choice but to grant a permit. I was there too but I was behind the camera and had been at every gay pride event since 1972. I know, there were not annual events in those early but years, but when the call to action went out, so did I.
This version is hot again❤❤❤❤
I came here to see Ada. I just love her.
Why is Ada talking so loud??
Not sure but I can only let you know that this is converted from an old VHS tape that was originally recorded in 1979 (I believe) and then the owner of the tape made multiple copies of it to sell in the early days of the internet. That is probably why the sound quality is not that consistent.
They sang back for Johnny Rivers singing Poor side of town 👏👏👏👏🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼amazing voices
Thanks for sharing 🥰🎶💖💖💖🎶💯
Thanks for viewing!
This is so beautiful
Great version, original from THE SWEET INSPIRATIONS
Wasnt she just beautiful eh ....the first ward singers song i heard at 15 year old was "come in the room" on tbe fontana label ...was electrifying ....& They still are.
I thought the second song was "Pop Goes the Weasel" when it first started.
Too close to not to be a match in my opinion. I think Ike used Pop Goes The Weasel as the intro.
Was Vermettya a soprano?

John West, the only member of the Playboys (that is, other than Gary) who was in the group when they formed in 1964 until they disbanded in 1970.
Such a great song
Es hermoso verlos.Y escucharlos da nostalgia vivimos esos momentos.eliadito
Memories of a better time ❤
I've watched this so much I've developed a tic where I turn my head to the side the same way Lesley does in the first two verses. I just love her live performances, she was such a comedian. I think that side of her came across most in the songs she wrote with Ellen Weston - "Immortality", "Don't Stop Me", "Paranoia" etc. - some of my all-time favourites, I absolutely loved their collaboration. R.I.P. Lesley Gore. I wholeheartedly agree with Robert Chalker's comment, Lesley was indeed the greatest!
