The Incomparable Tim Rues as the Incomparable Gen. Jim Lane.
มุมมอง 167 หลายเดือนก่อน
Historian and museum curator Tim Rues reenacts a piece of Jim Lane's fiery 1857 denunciation of the pro-slavery Lecompton Constitution from the senate chambers of the pro-slavery territorial capitol in historic Lecompton, Kansas. Tim does a remarkable job of making one feel they're in the presence of the famed free-state leader described as one of the greatest stump speakers in American history...

I find this fascinating. My mother was born in Falls City. There are endless rabbit holes of stories to find while researching her ancestry. I thought the details were getting a little too much to explain. Bob Nelson has so many details an hour is way short for a great story.

We could have stayed through the night. :) . The target for those library talks is an hour (5:30 to 6:30), then they need to close up shop. Notice the lights were going off in other parts of the building (great way to say "wrap it up." ) They want to do another one -- maybe this summer -- so I'll make sure to avoid the application process talk and too much national contextual stuff and just jam on the area history to kind of fill out a pre-Civil War Falls City tale. And maybe I cut down on the "ums." .. Ughh. You'd think a fellow would have grown out of that by this advanced age..
