That episode was great! One of the problems with DC characters is that they are gods not people with powers. Powering down characters like Superman and Batman make for much better and dramatic stories. Stories where you are actually concerned the hero might not be up to the task or be killed. Rock em sock em batman in this series is great. He gives as good as he takes, it's how it should be. He's just a human being. Loved this podcast. I listened to it while drawing a comic page! Good stuff

The finish on the suit is fantastic. The hands on hips pose in the Keaton side by side is perfect. The cape drape around the elbows sells it.

Very nice. I used to have that big, plastic Batman head that you wore over your own head when I was a kid. See at 3:08 Man, I haven't seen that since literally the very early 70s....

There's a Lego version of the Beware Batmobile, complete with a default Batman that has the Beware belt and insignia. For some reason, it only has some semblance to the show and there wasn't any connection with it. According to co-showrunner Mitch Watson, the show mainly didn't get a season 2 because Mattel bailed on its plans to make toys for it and made its own Batman line instead.

I had to wait until I heard one of y'all say it, but I immediately wanted to comment "this is the best Batman movie ever released on screen". It's hard for me to imagine this movie needing to be shown to other generations, it's such a fundamental part of my memories and my continuing artistic inspiration.

I saw this opening day. Xmas 1993

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is not necessarily my favourite Batman movie (although it's close), but objectively-speaking (if one can do that with Bat-media), I think it may be the *best* Batman film in terms of storytelling and understanding the key characters. And that's high praise when one thinks of how good the Burton films, TDK trilogy, and last year's The Batman are.

I appreciate your positive words on both Batman Returns and this wonderful book. What did you think of the design of Alfred, The Mayor and The Ice Princess, for example? Also, Penguin's parents looked a bit different from Paul Reubens (RIP) and Diane Salinger, which isn't a ocmplaint, simply an observation. I'd have loved to see Josh & Jen, as well as Chip (who you mentioned) in this, but I guess you can't include Josh & Jen, if you don't include the bose-biting scene.

I wonder if Max looking like a Sleepy Hollow character was an in-joke on the part of the illustrator, seeing as Walken played The Headless Horseman for Burton a few years later in the latter's adaptation of the story.

Regarding 9:25, Superman The Movie is still my favorite superhero movie, even with the Nolan Bat-trilogy, and even though I like Batman more than Superman.
