In the summer of 2022, we had the opportunity to finally sail further north. I cannot wait to go back and spend more time! We hope you enjoy this little film :) Lindsey and George

Wow your video sure brought up a lot of emotions for me. It is because in a world gone by my grand parents and my parents and myself lived in amounts the Broughtons scratching out a life by logging the timber and living on float camps. Aunts and uncles and many family friends had float camps scattered around the area. These camps were towed from place to place where the next stands of timber were. Each camp was a family business much like farms on the prairies were employing mostly family members. My grandparents on my father’s side gave up logging in the early 1930s and built a hotel at Echo Bay. That’s where Dad grew up and went to school. On Mom’s side Granddad had their camp up Kingcome Inlet and Mom boarded at Halliday’s farm where she went to school. The camp Mom and Dad had was in Cocatrice Bay on Broughton Island. They called me Cockatrice Charley. Just thought you might want to hear a bit of the bygone history. There are so many untold stories of that life style that just doesn’t exist any more. New visitors like yourselves might only have a slight sense of the ghosts that haunt those bays and inlets.

It really was that warm, our depth sounder also measures the water temperature and it read 80F the days we were anchored there in about 20ft of water. In the summer, the average ocean temp is 70s F but because we had a heat wave (pretty rare for this region), we had oddly warm water which was absolutely magical :) haha and yes a nude beach

Thanks! Something I didn't add was that in order to do it in 6 days, you have to convince the park service to allow you to get a permit for that little of time... I believe they allow 8 days or more without any special permission for your permit. Also first two weeks of September are the BEST for trail weather! And if you are flexible, you should have a good chance for walk-in permits. Hope you get to hike the trail this summer, it is amazing :)

    • @sailingkist1742

We bought the boat in 2016 with dingy and outboard for 50K. That said it didnt have a lot of items on it when we got it. But what it did have was new mast rigging etc and was only launched in 2009. Items it didnt have when we bought it: working shower, engine was raw water cooled, anchor windlass, hydrovane, to name a few but there are tons more additions we have done. Currently installing hydronic heating.... never ending project.... If I would guess given the market that there is today..... Id guess value of the boat to be 70-80K. If you are looking to get a boat my recommendation is get the hull you want, I wanted a boat that was offshore proven and a fast sailor too.... now if I could do it all again.... I would find the boat I want with all the upgrades that I want! take a loan out etc to get what you want because the reality is you are going to spend more plus your time to get those items later.... -George

Live narration is so muffled it’s hard to hear and then your post narration comes in so loud because I’ve cranked the volume up to hear the muffled narration. Other than that keep it coming!!
