My Late Enchantments - Michael Berube - Exhibition Retrospective
An exhibition walkthrough of My Late Enchantments:
A Retrospective Celebration of Michael Berube's Artistic Legacy
We bid a heartfelt farewell to the extraordinary artist Michael Berube who passed away
in May 2024, with this retrospective exhibit.
Michael had a varied career as an academic, performing and visual artist. After earning
a MFA in 2010, he began teaching in the Art Department at Hunter College in 2012.
Michael was a cherished teacher known for his ability to connect with and mentor
students from diverse backgrounds and interests. An early member of the Openings
Artist Collective, Michael held multiple roles: exhibiting artist, part of the collective’s
governing body, and senior curator. His energetic presence and discerning eye have left
an indelible stamp on the collective.
Michael's work is renowned for its baroque theatricality, camp aesthetics, poignant narrative, and bold color abstraction. Through a masterful use of paint, mixed media and glitter, his paintings are not just visual spectacles but also deep reflections on his experiences as an artist and AIDS survivor. In these artworks, you’ll encounter a dazzling interplay of exuberant forms and contemplative themes. Each work serves as both a celebration of life’s joys and a meditation on its struggles. Michael's distinctive approach blends flamboyant imagery with profound personal narratives, inviting viewers to engage with the layers of meaning behind each brushstroke.

BEAUTIFUL AND CREATIVE !
Colin's painting is amazing. I also see it as cathartic opening and an other worldly event. It reminds me of Buddhist awakening
Hi! Just wanted to reach out and say hello!
Keep creating! You’re producing excellent work!
I’m really enjoying what you’re contributing!
@ceciliamackie I feel like I’m getting bot 🤖 spammed a little. I don’t mind since it increases the profile of this video, but it’s kind of weird too.
You have something extraordinary here!
Hello! Your creativity is truly remarkable!
Hello! You are genuinely inspiring.
Hey! I really enjoy your content. Keep it coming!
I really love your vibe!
Hi! Just wanted to reach out and say hello!

@@ceciliamackie thanks 🙏
Thanks for coming to visit us, you were a wonderful addition to all that we do and amplified our story, our message, and our good will to build connections. THANK YOU
My pleasure!!! Your project and Porphyry Island is a National Treasure ✨
Thank you for the great video! Do you have any tips you would recommend on cleaning the bowls from the plaster?
Hi, Katerina. May I know what medium were the artwork?
Thank you for sharing this, a lot of food for thought.
Close caption????
L
what a plaster
Nice vid, going to check out some more of your videos. I recommend promosm to increase your social proof.
You showed precisely everything except the most important part. Darn it!
Yeah sorry my videoing/editing wasn’t as great as it is now. I think you can infer it from what I posted. I know many other people were able to... 😣
The wrapping part of the gauze on wire you did outside of camera view!!
I know... that’s before I knew I could rotate the video... I think it’s clear enough. I give it a solid B+
well i DID of course expect some youtube influencer diy art craft channel belly singy song to play in the art studio now i am shocked to say the least this is such a disillusion and a shame
ok... thanks I guess.
i would get aluminum wire steel rusts
Galvanized steel wire takes a while to rust. You can always paint it! Also while aluminum does not rust, it will corrode over time. So it really depends what look your going for and if you decide to coat your wire in a sealant.
@@KaterinaLanfranco1 Hey, thank you for responding! I just have had a lot of bad luck with galvanized steel lol! I just feel more comfortable using aluminum.
hey beautiful piece of art on the wall!
thank you 😊 🧚🏻♀️💃🏼
