To the Island and Back 1:11 | KSP speedrun
After seeing @Myshas-r1w 's video where they beat my previous run I had to re-evaluate my design and came up with this, adding a vector onto the plane stage to avoid spool-up issues and making the first stage more powerful in general, additionally I increased the wing area to make both landings a lot easier.
I could've probably skipped the panthers and the run itself was fairly sloppy but I'm quite happy with the time.

@Myshas-r1w it took a lot of runs to beat your time There arent any official rules so i just kinda follow what other people are doing.

challenge inspired by @Myshas-r1w and @justachickenboi with some optimisation in landings and such it's possible to shave off a few more seconds but i dont think i can get much better with this aircraft.

well good job anyways :>, i'll try to replicate this soon but also i've been wanting to talk abt something so in another comment thread you mentioned not having any official rules, and i've been working on a video to clear that up but i figured we could just do it the same way island express did - last touch rules, which is basically the moment of last time your craft/ kerbal touches the surface is the time you record. so like if you bounce off the surface you don't get to record the time of the bounce, but if you land and you're still rolling across the surface, you record the moment of your touchdown, not the moment you stop. we've both violated this rule in the past, so i figure we can just set it as a rule to follow in the future? just to standardize everything and make it fair

Yo what you sniffing to get that fast? Also add less wings for less drag and you could maybe just do a quick touchdown without turning off engines or using more aerodynamic parts like a probe core

Tip: Use fairing occlusion to limit drag and KAL overclocking for the return trip. Will save you so much time

I just imagine Jedediah and Bob racing to the nearest thing in sight, then increasing getting more insane with their contraptions until bob just comes up with this.
Tip: you dont need landing gear on second approach, just crash land. Jettison them after first touch on island. Could shave a few seconds down.

@@saltyitalianguy3243 Another tip; optimize your fuel. You had a little fuel after you were done, getting rid of fuel you don't need could shave off a few seconds at least.

@@saltyitalianguy3243funnily enough, after watching the 1:25 run you were racing, I realized we both came up with about the exact same craft 💀 Question: Would touching the VAB count as finishing to you? Are there any actual rules? Even better, to save a second or 2, would bouncing off the Island count? So far, you 2 are the ONLY runs I can find. You seem to just bounce off the island, so… It’s fine, right?
@@saltyitalianguy3243Small improvement, you could definitely fire the engines shortly before landing. It could save a second with the faster startup acceleration AFTER takeoff from the island. Nice job, btw!
@@GameristicForce ima be real i genuinely have no idea, i just looked at the other guy's run and based myself off of that, at the end of the day its just a fun thing to challenge yourself so you can really go as crazy as you want. you should upload the run tho i'd be happy to see it.

It took a lot longer than my last attempt because the plane was the biggest most unstable piece of crap and ironing that out took time, once i got the plane working i finally got a half-decent run with it but made some mistakes, my landing could've been quicker on both the island and the return, it's a good time tho so i'll take it.

You could orient your ship in the VAB to aim for the island directly
currently working on mk2, more boosters and sits on rocket launchpad to be closer
with the new one im looking at somewhere in the 1:20's, i just gotta string together a run
