    It’s a journey, and you will enjoy it at the end when your looking back at how far you have come. The rebuilding/repairing process is a learning curve. But then it’s on to accessorizing your newly rebuilt mill and you find that the cost of that process is far more than that of the rebuilding process. Tooling is expensive but it is worth every penny. Keep pushing through one step at a time my friend, you are doing great ! Best of luck!

    All it needs is a wedge under the one corner that will stop it from rocking. As for run out, you don't seem to be ready to work to tolerances closer than plus or minus .005. Spend more time making chips and less polishing the machine. My machines might be dirty, but i make chips almost every day. Practice makes perfect.

    • @Jayjam209
      @Jayjam209 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate your comment; we are all entitled to our opinions. Making a lot of chips doesn't mean that your stuff has to be dirty, just my opinion. This is my hobby and hobby shop, I make things and then clean up. Any machine that comes in gets this service so I don't have to worry when I want to make/fix something. Cheers.

    Get a magnetic starter, your running blast cabinet and i bet that compressor was kicking on constantly. The points were probably burnt the F up. Its not hard to wire up. You will run your ground and 1 hot leg from motor to starter, then run your other hot leg to your curent switch biggity bam no more issues.

    I have a small shop. When I was laying out my 2 post lift, I found my widest car and arranged it so that if the car was centered on the lift, I would have enough room to do whatever i wanted. The operation that came to mind was if I wanted to pull an axle. If the car is centered on the lift, the outside of my post arms are 27" wider than the wheels. It worked out such that the post is 4ft off the wall. The car is 6'3" off the wall. Tool chests are 18-24" wide. So if I happen to have a toolbox parked up against the wall, the car is still 4ft and some change away from that.

    It's sad that current tech is built to last only till the day the warranty runs out.. my old man's air compressor is 50 years old now, runs up to 200psi, and it's only needed 1 motor change in the last 50 years. They definitely don't make them like they used to.

      Thanks for your comment. The plans are free. Plans are helpful for a number of reasons: some people are still building up tooling and want to know what they may need. Others may want someone else to make it. Its always a judgement call in my case, do I am going to make the thing I need or buy it? This case was a combination. Just depends on how much time you have and stock. Cheers.
