The Importance of Snow Guards | Alpine SnowGuards
มุมมอง 5505 ปีที่แล้ว
Alpine SnowGuards' Educational Series Snow guards are rooftop devices that allow snow and ice to drop off in small amounts or allow snow and ice to melt completely before falling to the ground. The installation of snow guards prevents the sudden release of snow and ice from a roof, which is known as a roof avalanche. A roof avalanche can cause damage to people, pets, cars, landscaping, gutters,...

    What is this for? To keep snow from shedding off your panels? I mean I guess that’s desired in some applications with walkways underneath but kind of works against your production.

      Roof top snow slides can pose a danger to anything below the eave edge as the snow avalanches to the ground. Snow retention devices are ONLY necessary on roof surfaces that shed snow over points of egress, parking spots, sidewalks, etc.

    Cool vid! Is the lower portion of the metal roof heated? Just wondering why that portion melts faster in the time lapse?

    And when that snow gets rained on it crushes your solar panels.!!🤣😂🤣🤣😂

      No, they don’t. All these do is stop sheets of snow from sliding off roof and landing on whatever is below like decks and porches

    These are for protection that prevents sheets of snow and ice sliding down and hitting someone below. Look at the steep angle of the panels in the video. This concept is similar to the angles that stick up on metal roofs.

    Why would you want to hold snow on your panels?

  • @vincentrobinette1507
    @vincentrobinette1507 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't quite get it. It looks like it would hold the snow on, rather than help them shed the snow so they can get full exposure to daylight. Also, those tall brackets look like they would shadow adjacent cells, reducing the performance of the panels. Maybe i'm wrong. There should be some narration or text to explain the function of this hardware. How would you get the snow off the panels?
