So much of this past Sunday's experience has stuck with me. The music, Eric's poem, Micah's talk, the quote that talked about being a "stitcher"... I am so grateful to be surrounded by this community.

Great sermon, Micah!! Thanks. Praying lots for you and the team this week; also praying for the ears, minds, and hearts and souls of those on the [decision making] committee to be opened to God’s spirit and intent. In Him…Be strong.

its funny how you can apparently agree with someone for the wrong reason. In the last part of your sermon Mr.Witham you showed how the logic of your argument led you to change you position on traditional sexual ethics is a good example of how a base logic influences our hermeneutics...interesting but inconsistent. speaking of inconsistencies, you put a lot of emphasis on "monogamous" a word tthat doesn't exist in the bible. Are covenantal poliamory relationships a sin? and why? Can these relationships show the fruits of the spirit? Are covenantal lifelong Open Marriages a sin? and why? Can these relationships show the fruits of the spirit? isn't Consent and Freedom in Christ the most important part of your hermeneutics Are covenantal monogamous incestuous relationships a sin? and why? Can these relationships show the fruits of the spirit? The only times orgies are condemned is in the context of pagan temple worshiping RIGHT? Are consensual christian orgies a sin? and why? Is consensual premarital sex a sin? and why? Your logic and hermeneutics will have to deal with these questions one day. And you won't have a consistent biblical reason to opposed them.

I can't speak for Micah and I'm assuming he doesn't watch his sermons back or look to argue in the comments section of TH-cam, but I'll do it. I'm hearing a slippery slope logic in your argument, which is both fear-based and ultimately not how the heart of God functions. If anything in this conversation is "base logic", it's that. Everything in life is relational because God is relational. Because of this, the questions you ask, should they ever one day be the primary conversation in MODERN CHRISTIAN CULTURE, will be navigated in the same relational, contextual, and loving way that Awaken seems to be walking out the conversation of homosexuality. The importance is that it is done with respect to people who have different opinions and beliefs, trusting that the holy spirit is moving within them the same way it is moving within you and I, whom I assume center ourselves on the scriptures. MY answer to your questions: If the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, then YES, any human being can exhibit these attributes, which simply demonstrates the tremendous generosity and openness with which the holy spirit can move and work. There are moments when these things are not present in a person, but they are always available to live into. So a handful questions for you. Are there any inconsistencies within the scriptures themselves? Can two people reach different conclusions about any topic from reading the scriptures? In what ways is Freedom in Christ limited for you? Why does someone else's sex life mean so much to you? Did Jesus directly talk about anything you mentioned? What is the role of change in human history? How do you dictate what is good change and what is bad change? Does God ever change their mind in any of the stories within the scriptures? Does Jesus ever change his mind? Does cultural context ever play a role in the scriptures? What occurrences/traditions of cultural context does Jesus speak to and how does that affect your assumptions of what is considered to be "righteous" culture? When you inevitably meet a person who holds one of the positions you fear, I hope you are able to trust that God holds all of it with love, and without fear. And btw, it's covenantal* and polyamorous relationships*, not covenental and poliamory relationships. TH-cam probably isn't the place to do what you're trying to do.

@@Zerlevi the purpose of the Bible is to prove that you're not up to its standards and so you should return and do what God commanded from the beginning which is to trust him and not eat from the Tree of knowledge then you can eat from the Tree of life. This is the gospel.
