มุมมอง 10721 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today I travel to the nearby city of Salem, Oregon, to visit the B-17 Alliance Museum & Restoration Hangar. Here a B-17 is in the process of being returned to flying condition, with an estimated completion date of 2035. Turns out that I have seen this plane before, back in 2005, when it was perched above the Bomber Restaurant in the greater Portland area.

So smooth landing, I love turboprop aircarft, more pleasure flying than jet engine air craft 💗💗💗
I really had a great time flying in the Catalina. Landing on the water was much softer than I expected!
Good music to accompany a video on an artsy district in Bogata.
Thanks! I did a search of Latin Music on Epidemic Sound and picked these ones. I thought they kind of fit.
Such an infusion of art in La Candelaria!
It's quite beautiful!
I dig the behind-the-scenes commentary while you're still at home in Eugene . . .
Thanks... I was just trying something different. I have been to Bogota before, so I really just wanted to escape the Oregon winter for a while.
I’m glad to have watched all videos from all 15 countries ❤️👍🏽. Hoping this year is more exciting also 😊
Thanks so much Charlie! I have big plans for this year too!
@@quintessentialtravel1966 going to stick and enjoy your adventures from a far 😄👍🏽
We went back in time to November 😄👍🏽
You caught that... hahaha, yes!
Reading the replies and getting to know these volunteer guides are that old makes this place a must see👏🏽👏🏽
Yes, the guides are excellent at this place!
At 5:30 I was intrigued 🤔 that I had to pause the video and go read about how insanely cool these engineers created this canal were👏🏽
The engineers that created this canal were truly brilliant! They did something that was never done before.
Watching this about the canal after Trump and Panama’s president little back and forth is funny😂🇵🇦
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Anyway, those drone shots are insane and even more so the vegetation makes is awesome and beautiful and how hell was that cucumber so crunchy 😂
Trinidad is a beautiful tropical island, so the drone came in handy. Yes, that was a very crunchy cucumber, lol.
After 3weeks at the hospital and couldn’t barely see a thing, I was back home yesterday with a bitter sweet moment and just couldn’t wait to log onto my computer and watch your videos as part of my Saturday routine 😂
Thank you so much Charlie, I really appreciate this! Unfortunately, I am out of new videos at the moment. I have some material for a video on Colombia, but it will take me a few days to publish it. I better start travelling again so I have more material, LOL.
@ take all your time my friend🙏🏽. Hope your Christmas holidays were great with your loved ones 🎄
This was an excellent tour led by Bob Hart and 101 year old volunteer tour leader Paul Payne. It was interesting to see local volunteers refurbishing the B17 in the hangar which will fly in several years after the repairs are finished.
It's really a "must see" place.
One of our two docents there, Paul Payne, is 101 years old and flew the B17 back in the day. The other docent was a navigator in the Air Force.
I think Paul might have been a bombardier on the Consolidated B-24 Liberator. Both docents definitely are very qualified!
The B17 that they are restoring will have a second life when the volunteers finish putting it together. Should be quite an event to see it fly once again!
I think they are aiming at 2035 for it's completion.
Now I have an idea of what Trinidad is like.
@@AliceAikens It’s a beautiful place that most people don't even know about.
Fascinating to hear that the French sought (and failed) to build the Panama Canal at sea level.
@bartaikens1036 In the early years, the French were superb engineers - they invented photography, I think, in 1822. But no country stays on top forever. Look at Genghis Kahn or the British navy. World powers come and go.
Thanks for the trip to Panama! I won't be able to make it there so I appreciate the video!
@@AliceAikens It's an engineering marvel!
Interesting U.S. currency is used in Panama.
@melvinaikens7710 It is quite clever of them. El Salvador also uses the US dollar. I didn't know it at the time, so at immigration I was trading US dollars for US dollars. Kind of funny now, but quite embarrassing at the time. They just looked at me like I was a moron... Q
Gorgeous footage! Great music!
@kellygoodwoman1717 Thanks so much. I really enjoyed my visit there!
So informative! great video and nice background music :)
@kellygoodwoman1717 Thank you for the kind words. I don’t have many subscribers , but quality is more important that quantity 😁
And narrates it so well, makes it seem you’re in a lecture hall but without the power point thing and all😅
Baked shark sounds gourmet!
it was truly excellent! A gem of a food from a country most people are not familar with.
Lovely beaches🏖 and we could see you’re were in your “National Geographic” episode with the leaf cutter ants😅. Cute 👍🏽 Thanks once again Mr.Quinn for sharing and hey, the voice gets better with each video. 👌🏽
@kwadwocharliewinns2458 Thanks for your good suggestions. I will try to make the videos more entertaining!

I now know more about Uruguay!
Unique hand sculpture on beach!

Hi Mr.Quinn, can we get scenes of you sometimes trying local foods and rating them 1 to 10 in your adventures? It’s only a request, you don’t have to honor it anyway 🙈😅
Sure, I can try to do that. In fact, in two weeks I have a video coming out, made in Trinidad where I do taste some local foods 😁
@@quintessentialtravel1966 awesome😘👍🏽, I’d love to know how many countries you’ve visited now to be honest 😄
They love their murals and graffiti 🖼. Not surprised they were voted the happiest place in 2017. You don’t have to get millions of money to be happy anyway🤷🏽♂️.
Absolutely! A lot of rich people are very stressed out; angry that they don't have more and fearful that they will lose what they have.
@ this right here my friend is very true 👍🏽
I want to learn a few words of Guarani!😄
Google Translate has Guarani, but I found that the people there mostly spoke Spanish too.
Paraguay is like Costa Rica in that it has such a high happiness index.
Proof that you don't have to be rich to be happy 😀
Thanks for bringing me along. I learned some interesting facts about Paraguay.
@@melvinaikens7710 Thanks for watching!
And you left us with the sand drifting for an end, that was sick 🤟🏽🔥😂 How did you even take the shots for this one? 😳Who was driving and who was taking them? I know every viewer would love to know 😂👍🏽
I had my drone hover at medium elevation, with the camera aimed at the ground. That was me in the vehicle, driving in circles full power, kicking up dust. That was really fun!
@ and damn cool 😎🏎💨💨
3 days of serene relaxation, no phones, just you, the tent, sounds of coyotes, the wind and crickets and waking up to a full view of the sun rising. I’d love this experience💯.
This is the kind of place that is so good that I will have to return next year.
@@quintessentialtravel1966 you do Quinn, it’s totally worth it. I’d also do it I were you and in Oregon 💯💯😍
I could watch the drone shots of the mountain with an ocean wave background track all day🥰.
Thank you so much Charlie. It is very peaceful there. And at night you can star gaze with amazing clarity!
@@quintessentialtravel1966 I could imagine 😍🤩
Beauty of the Alvord Desert and Steens Mountain to behold!
@@AliceAikens It’s like two adventures for the price of one 😁
Far out!
@@melvinaikens7710 It really is!
Love that slumbering coyote!
@@bartaikens1036 The one coyote was deferring to Alpha, who was chewing on some prey..
Spectacular. I like your vow to return to Skylight Cave when the lighting is better.
@bartaikens1036 I will go there again, probably in June 😀
Just stared the video and had to comment that this place isn’t real right?😨😍 The drone shots bro😮💨, wow!! Just wow!!
Oh, it's very real, and only a few hours drive from where I live. I didn't know about it until a few months ago! Thanks!
@ wow!!👍🏽
Another great place I'd like to see!
And it's not far away for us!
My first visit to Skylight Cave!
@melvinaikens7710 It is an underappreciated gem!
Wow, cool scenery! I was feeling a little claustrophobic just from the footage!! 😮
Most of the path is fine, but in spots it gets really constricted... Neat place to hike, definitely worth visiting!
Loved the drone shot of the crack also, it kinda made it look like the meeting point of the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean meeting ;)🤩
I tried flying the drone inside the crack, but the proximity sensors kept beeping, telling me that it was about to hit the rock walls, so eventually I chickened out and flew ABOVE the crack (so much safer). Speaking of Atlantic and Pacific oceans meeting, I have a Panama Canal video coming up, where you can see that very intersection.
@ That’s awesome to hear and can’t wait:-), trust me getting to see where the two oceans meet in real life is also on my bucket list🤞🏽. Spent my Saturday morning watching various videos from creators on here after I made this comment after watching your video😅. I’m just been amazed by the science of this wonder since age 12 tbh. 😅
I have no idea why I’ve been so scared for you since it’s obvious you’re the only one walking in the crack🤷🏽♂️😅
Not many people there... I did run into two people there who were open carrying pistols. Turns out, they were carrying the guns because they heard that there were rattlesnakes in the crack. Yikes!
@@quintessentialtravel1966 ohh! 😮, that scary. Glad you were save after all 👍🏽
The inside of the pyramids feel so uncomfortable from the walking inside to the heat and all by looking at how sweaty you are 🥵😂. I’d still love to visit them in the future 👍🏽
The inside of the pyramids is VERY hot... My guide wouldn't even go inside with me, lol! Yes, you must visit, they are awesome!
@@quintessentialtravel1966 you guide ditched you 😂, sorry. I’d definitely visit some day 👍🏽
And hey, Mr. Quinn voice over getting great a video at a time 🙂👍🏽
Thank you Charlie, I am trying! And I am doing the voiceovers because you told me that they were a good idea, and you are right.
@@quintessentialtravel1966 👍🏽😁
Awesome video🤩! Are you allowed to explore alone or there are tour guides to tell the history more?
They let you explore alone. They do have people working there to make sure nobody tries to deface the art, however.
@@quintessentialtravel1966 that’s great, I thought about that also. Then it’s all good then 👍🏽
Awesome setting!
@@AliceAikens It’s definitely worth visiting!
Did you see artifacts?
No artifacts, just lots of cracks...
I don't believe I've yet explored Crack in the Ground, brother--thanks for the introduction. 😃
It's 20 degrees cooler in the crack than the surface, so it is really is cool... 😁
