I do not know this music, either. This wonderful music really ought to be known, and not languish in obscurity. I suggest reading Professor Larry Todd`s magnificent biography of Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn to get a picture of the calibre of the musician that she truly was.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for listening! I think the first movement in particular benefits from considering its structure-given its unique organisation and the recurring themes, it helps to be able to plan overall peaks and troughs. In terms of starting to learn the work, though, for me it involved no small amount of patient and slow practice before I could master the material enough to step back and add the dramatic flair that it calls for, while also always reminding myself to sing through all the beautiful melodies in the work, even when they are surrounded by thicker textures!
I have entered a piano competition with this piece but feel nervous that I won't be able to master it as I am rusty. Any tips?
Thank you for your question! I’d advise you what I tell myself: lots of slow practice, staying aware of good posture, and trying to keep arms as relaxed/free as possible (particularly for this piece with all the jumps everywhere and the repeated notes in the third movement!). All the best for the competition!
