Hint: Take a deep breath before you change between the suave and the side step. It's a signal to the follower that something is about to happen. If you are consistent about this your follower knows when to be prepared and when to just relax and enjoy the dance. To be clear, you take this breath during the last weight transfer, you don't pause the motion to take a breath. For the follower the signal isn't visual, she just feels the motion of the breath in your upper body.

I dance kizomba for over more than 10 years but will now start dancing the guys steps (like many other women already do) after standing watching other people dance for 3 hours and only dance 2 times because being dependant on the men to. From now on I will be inviting the women still standing and waiting 😂

My reasons for dancing have always been changing. The moment I saw a couple dancing I was instantly amazed and had so many questions. And most importantly I wanted to be that guy, that leader. After I started dancing I understood there are so many benefits (like health etc.), but the most important I believe is that there must be something in our physiology that we are naturally supposed to do. And simply not doing it makes us unhappy. So yes, dancing made me much calmer happier person.

Should add, Kizomba or semba - soft, circular and fluid.

Hi, I would like some detail about how to move. Like the big one in my mind is the actual details of how to walk nicely- the mechanics of it. No video I have seen really covers that. I dance with a lot of people who can dance a lot of moves but it often feels sloppy because haven't got mechanics of movement right. Also, I noticed followers I dance with get confused when they are exposed to urban, fusion (after starting with kizimba) and start dancing patterns- constantly doing touches when they should shift weight, and constantly pivotting all the time. So, videos that could clear up some confusion about the mechanics of movement and details of mechanics of lead / following would be good.

This is so important to start with the basics! A man who didn't practice his basic steps on his own will not be able to dance with anyone. Mastering basics steps is truly what makes a good dancer 👍🏾 You explained this so well! I've been dancing Kizomba for 5 years and I wish aspiring dancers knew this lesson perfectly .👌🏾
