Okay. I am a PROFESSIONAL Mario Kart player and I have some advice for you. 1) Stop driving normal and DRIFT in those turns! This is a FATAL mistake when you get to the Star Cup and Special Cup, especially when you're going 150cc. 2) USE YOUR ITEMS!!!! You just might actually get 1st place. 3) If you see a computer player dragging an item, get out of the way! Otherwise, don't tailgate them because you're going to screw yourself over because you have no room to move! Overall, there really was NO EXCUSE for you to only get 2nd place. Follow those 3 tips I gave you and you'll be golden every time!

What is it with NEVER using items? Your strategy of holding on to 3 mushrooms or a star for the entire race right up until the end of the final lap clearly doesn't work. With rare exceptions, you want to use as many items as possible, especially if you're still in a lower place. You could have gotten several stars and a few lightning bolts in place of that one star that you held on to for dear life for three laps for some reason, only to still wind up in 3rd place. Even if you're in first place, and you know you're only going to get green shells and bananas, 10 green shells is way better than the NOTHING you get by holding on to 3 mushrooms for 3 laps. Item hoarding doesn't help you in this game. It punishes you.
