Welcome to vCSG-3!
We are a DCS group that focuses on striking a good balance between realism and fun. We have about 80 active members who fly as a part of one of our squadrons:
VF-103 Jolly Rogers (F-14B)
VFA-14 Tophatters (F/A-18C)
VFA-86 Sidewinders (F/A-18C)
VMFA(AW)-224 Fighting Bengals (F/A-18C)
VMA-513 Nightmares (AV-8B)
VAW-126 (E-2D Hawkeye[notional])
Each of our squadrons is unique, but we come together as one unit when we run our wing-wide deployment missions. We look forward to showing everybody what we're all about!

Conversation with LtCol Patrick "Pig" O'Donnell
Apologies for the lack of host audio, which was due to a technical gremlin.
LtCol Patrick "Pig" O'Donnell
Pig was commissioned in 1987 via OCS. He started his career as an Air Support Control Officers MOS 7208. He then began his aviation career by accepting flight school in 1992 and attended the Hornet RAG in 1995.
He served with VMFA-212 Lancers (at the time the Marines Corps permanent forward deployed Hornet squadron) in Japan from 1996 - 1999. Collateral duties while there included Airframes, Logistics and AAMO Officers. He then transferred to VMFAT-101 Sharpshooters and served as S6 and Training Officer from 1999 - 2002.
He went back to VMFA-212 to serve as XO from 2002-2003. He then served as OPSO for MAG-12 from 2003 -2005. He finished his career at 2d MAW were he served as Future OPSO and Deputy G3 then finally Assistant Air Boss at Al Asad AB.

[Deprecated] F/A-18C JDAM/JSOW TOO Multi Target Strike Tutorial
มุมมอง 2.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
UPDATE August 2022: TOO co-ordinates currently only transfer into the weapon's mission, when the TDC is depressed. This simplifies the procedure with regards to stepping and undesignating (there is no need to worry about undesignating at the end of the process, because coordinates will no longer be overwritten). A new video will follow to demonstrate the current procedure. Note: April 2021 - Te...
F/A-18C Hornet: SEAD HARM as Sensor - Pod and HUD
มุมมอง 5053 ปีที่แล้ว
A few tips on using HARM as a sensor, during SEAD/DEAD missions. Includes accidental HARM Self Protect launch. This video demonstrates how to determine the location of a hostile radar emitter, locate it with your FLIR pod with the purpose of delivering a GDPS guided weapon, without waypoints or mark points. We also cover assessing range to a HARM Target of Opportunity, using a combination of HA...

The Mark point and how to use was really helpful!

Hi, why did you not TDC depress? Is simply slewing over a target sufficient to designate and if so, how does this work? How does DCS know which point the cursor is travelling over is the target?
Another video said to disregard that and actually depress (which I've been doing and it works fine).
with the current state of the targeting pods, TDC depress is the only way to send target data into the given weapon system. When this video was made, the last point before STEP is pressed remained in place for the previous weapon.

I see you didnt hit enter for TDC depress - the icon on the FLIR didnt change to a diamond?

Very well explained
I would assume you live in the Great state of Texas. I live in New Braunfels....you close by? Just came across the wing channel and enjoyed the videos.
Great clip, whomever made it. I've shared it in my FB group.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
great video - can you go a bit deeper into FLIR? i didnt know you could do that with the JSOWS- ive been manually entering in co-ordinates ... haha
Great suggestion! There are some excellent FLIR videos from Redkite - it would be difficult to top his quality!
Video watched, proceeding to delete the P-820 pdf file from my computer. But really, that was a great overview. Thank you for sharing!
Just been practising with the new HARM modes in both F/A18-C & F-16C. ED have improved the HARM. I've just done a test shot on a P-19 Search radar in an F/A-18-C at 29,854ft, IAS of 396kts in PB Mode using HARM Pullback. The range I fired the HARM at was 62.94nm & it was a successful kill on the P-19 Radar. I got this data from TACVIEW.
indeed - HARMs are now extremely capable, both as stand-alone weapons, as well as complimentary SEAD tools.
Great lecture, one correction though: on the radar page, the radar pri doesn't refer to pulse repetition interval, it's a currently not implement setting that can change the priority between the jammer and the radar. The interference blanking unit ensures that only one system can transmit at the same time to avoid any kind of interference between the two or jamming up your own radar. If ED implements that, it will allow us to have a much better control over the ASPJ.
Thanks very much for taking the time to watch and your valuable comment. I'll pass it on to Fajita. /Bloat
