Beloved Samir, my Beloved Samir, you know how I admire your faith, and to pray with you. I was reading your message after my meeting at the Carmel of Los Angeles. More than ever, we need God, we need faith, and we need to remain centered, calm, and joyful. I discovered St. Therese when I was 6 years old, in Lisieux, the city of Therese. Since that day, she became the center of my life. Fifteen years ago, I felt "guided" (I don’t mean this in a New Age sense-I truly dislike the New Age terminology, but I can’t find a better word for now) to write a play about St. Therese, based on the premise: "What would St. Therese say to us today?" This play was selected 10 years ago by Fr. Enrique Salvo, director of vocations, and we have performed it 1,000 times around the world. People from all faiths-Catholics, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, and even atheists-have come to applaud Therese. The play will be performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York on October 12, 2024. All authentic spiritual masters, across all religions, teach that we need to integrate our faith into our daily lives. We must bring our prayers and meditation not outside of our lives, but into our everyday situations. In neuroscience, scientists have proven that when we train our mind by sitting in a quiet place and then return to our stressful lives-like traffic, conflicts, or the workplace-we lose most of the benefits of that calmness and serotonin. Why? Because when you train your brain in a quiet place, you don't send the message to remain calm during your daily life, but rather outside of it. Where is the value of our prayers if, after prayer or meditation, we become stressed again in our chaotic lives? Meditation doesn’t mean imitating the cliché of a monk living in the Himalayas 3,000 years ago in a world without stress. Instead, it’s about learning how to calm our minds amidst the craziness of daily life. All my best wishes to encourage and support all that you do.

As the exceptional chef you are, you know how essential it is to nourish ourselves with different types of wholesome food-especially food from nature. And I know, when you cook, you enter into communion with Mother Nature, praying as you prepare each dish, and blessing each of your guests. It’s the same when we create a play or a concert. We also need spiritual nourishment. What does this mean? Our souls are sick because they are disconnected from themselves, the Universe, and the Divine energy. To heal is to reconnect our soul. How is this possible? By calming our mind. Also, everyone has their own way to calm their mind. It is very important to respect this fact. It can be through a daily practice, Nature, Yoga, etc. As an artist, I use music and singing to calm the mind.
