How did you get your foot rests out? Mine are held in by rivets I think I will have to drill them out.
I used a large flathead screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Pry on it very gingerly and they'll come off. 😊
@@SilasOutdoors I replaced the seat with a stadium seat. I am so damn sorry I sold my Tamarack. I bought my Tamarack in 2021 at TSC in Hollister, MO> for 299, this year it was 499!!!! This Castaway was 429 this year and crap comparted to the Lifetime. The Lifetime was great because at least the seat area had scuppers. and none in this Cast yak. My azz may stink but I don't want to sit in water all day. Next year in November, I'm going from where I live on Table Rock Lake, to the Table Rock dam, then cross the highway for 3/4 mile by foot and put in below the dam on Lake Tayne commo then get out at Powersight dam. That will be 50 miles for the 50 states. Going to do this next year for veterans week here in Branson, also waiting til next year, I will be 70!!!! I'm taking 2 fishing poles, two crawdad traps and a frog gig. No food except for 4 cans of Navy beans and two tarps, water and a hiking burner. I would like to get a small solar charger for my phone in case of emergency. I am actually a service connected disabled veteran from the early '70's. That's why I want to do it during veteran's week. I tried to figure out how long it would take me. At 2.5 mph it would be 20 hours plus an hour to cross the highway at the dam and 17 hours at 3 mph. So either way, I am going to have to figure on spending at ;east one night crunching under a tarp.
The one I went to over the weekend was a little different than this one. But the overall excitement was the same. I can't wait for some more

Nice mods! How would you rate the stability? Is it pretty stable or more tippy side to side?
I would say average. Using it in calm waters is no problem. Definitely would tip if tried to stand in.
@@SilasOutdoors Cool, that's what I was thinking. I've fished out of some similar but slightly bigger kayaks like a tamarack pro. Had to sell my truck and my kayaks and now have an SUV with a roof rack, so something that's only 44 lbs is appealing.

I saw on a video for a Lifetime yak a guy used foam practice golf balls to plug in the drain holes, push them down in and the expand and set. This is the model I am looking at, you did a great job of confirming why. Thanx!

Hi. So the seat mounting board is screwed into the kayak? How is the back of the seat fastened to the board? Thanks
Well... I cut a 11" 2X4 screwed it on the bottom rail of the stadium seat with two screws. It just rests onto where the original seat use to be. It's completely leveled for comfort. The seat is only attached to the thick zip ties I used.
