I am not a "TH-camr". By that I mean this channel is not monetized through TH-cam, and I received no revenue from any ad that may play over my videos. Part of the point of moving out here was to try to step as far outside the monetary system in this country as possible, so this youtube channel was never intended to create revenue in that system. I need only participate in the system just enough to survive it.

Should I ditch the Tracker?

Not sure what I am going to decide here but I am leaning in the direction of ditching the tracker in favor of 2 stationary arrays.

Mines going on 5 years, replaced the cover last year, plan on putting a nice tarp over it. They can pretty much last forever if you keep the sun off them. Didn’t know you could get those clamps, will do that. I plan on digging some cement post holes with eye bolts and using ratchet straps to suck it to the ground. I have an XPO tarp from Menards. Costs twice what a HF heavy duty tarp does but so far it’s been rock solid perfect. 5 year warranty.
Well.. hi again. Mine is failing to to track properly. I wish mine was working properly.. 177w vs 806 after tilting. 1\3 th-cam.com/video/R00Vfy0iPO0/w-d-xo.html 2\3 th-cam.com/video/8it9WhMxI6E/w-d-xo.html 3\3 th-cam.com/video/Ctf2Vft19fI/w-d-xo.html I have contacted eco worthy, but just wondering what your thoughts are..?
How do you access your station from your pc the ip
I have the little pod thing that connects it to the internet
My atlas seems to show very unpredictable wind
*Due to the extreme drop in the price of solar panels trackers are now superfluous. It is much cheaper and much more reliable to simply install more panels!* Trackers are mechanics & electonics and need maintenance. And they are very susceptible to wind. For this reason and because of the mechanics, most of them only last a 1-10 years. If you want more constant yields throughout the day, you simply have to set up the panels in an S-E and S-W orientation.

Nice!
Sounds like a good idea. Great jeep. Hope all is well.
Good morning may I ask how yours fares to high winds. Any issues with pin wear.
It does not like the wind. Not well suited to windy environments.
@aloneinanearthship4010 hmm great I need to.look at modifications
No , use the sun line method. Get a stick about 4 feet long and stick it in the ground. at 11 o'clock put a rock where the tip of the shadow is, At 1 pm put the next rock at next place the shadow tip is. That is your sun line. Build a rail along the sun line to rest your panels on. Point your panels toward the sun at the correct angle for hitting the panel straight on at the summer and winter solstice You only have to change them at the equinox twice a year. With this methodology you will get 75 percent of what a tracker will provide you with minimal labor and a strong mount mount to keep them in place when the wind blows. a bit more work but you can fine tune you power output so you the best power output when you need it. Extra for AC / icemaker in the summer and more juice in the winter to keep you batteries full. put them in the air a little bit and that shade is a good place for veggies or rabbit hutches.
Nice work.
your mountain looks like a pyramid
I notice the voltage at 9:12am ish is at about 27.2 volts. Nice power production. Of cause the controller won't send more power to battery bank even if the clouds clear up instantly. A full battery is like a full human. 😅 We won't receive more even if there isn't enough room for more. But if u increase loads in your home and battery volts drop the controller will push more power to the battery bank. I have a dual solar setup and I see that a lot. Its a small solar setup. A panel to the east and a panel to the west. The batteries state of charge is always the wild card. I'm glad u brought those panels out of retirement.

Wanted to follow up to see how the heating cable worked and if any issues?
seems to work well, had no issues with over the rest of the winter.
Absolutely love it. So badass
This is exactly what happens when you re-engineer something not originally engineered for...
Ditch the tracker. New bifacial panels can be had for under 30 cents a watt. I would suggest a few running pointed Southwest. And a few setup vertical to capture early morning and late afternoon full sun.
I have wanted to try bifacial panels but I already have a bunch of standard panels on hand. Maybe for the next solar project.
Ditch the tracker unless funds are available for a more heavy duty one.
Build like an A frame to keep cool airflow
I do three directions … east west and south … adjusting angles a couple of times. For latitude
With my main array already facing south, if I add one west and one east I would have the same thing. I think that is the way I am going to go.
Yes ditch the tracker. Solar has a benefit over any other power generation where it doesn't require moving parts and maintenance. You added moving parts.
Yes, I will probably ditch the tracker, and as you say I did add moving parts however, I have seen many of the heavy duty passive trackers that use no electricity but rather gas calendars that are alternately heated in the sun to move the array. I have seen several of these in service and requiring no maintenance for decades so I'm not sure how much reliability is really an issue.
Sounds good.
North South Light Sensor Errors. My Eco-worthy solar tracker is the same as that in the video (does not have new controller). Using the remote controller arrows without pushing SET or RESET buttons, the operator can see the North and South Sensor Voltage readings and the Wind Speed Sensor Voltage reading (I did not know that for years). My North and South Light sensor values are practically 0.00V with some momentary flickering between 0.01V and 0.02V and this enough to cause the panels to be tilted towards the south so it appears it is working but is not working. I did not notice this and I wonder if anyone else's controller is doing the same thing?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean but I dont think I have experienced similar issues. perhaps you have an issue with the sensor?
@@aloneinanearthship4010 Suppose I have set up my controller and QUIT the setup. My display shows SL E:1.47 W:1.51 (this represents a new line character not found on the display) Turning Sunny 007s; We find: the SL mode (Sun Light), the voltage of East sensor (1.47V), the voltage of the West (1.51V), the mode again, "Turning Sunny", and the timer value (7 seconds (often prefixed by "TX" I assume)) before the next update. Now I press the East key and the controller displays SH S:2.25 N:0.00 S TX:008; the Shining mode? ("SH"), the voltage of the South sensor (2.25V), the voltage of the North sensor (0.00V), an "S" (unknown) and TX:009 (probably the timer again, as noted above). Now I press the East Button again: SH F:0.00 V:11.9 S TX:003; the Sunshining mode ("SH"), the wind speed sensor voltage (0.00V) and the system power supply voltage (11.9V), an "S" for sun shining (different for debugging purposes) and 3 seconds as indicated by the "TX" timer. If I press the East button again it returns to the first screen. So Yes, I have a 0.00V on my North sensor problem. Notice: I was able to see much more than when I believed I could only see one screen of display. I did so by pressing the East movement (or West movement) button in the normal operating mode!
Hello: Thanks for these updates. My Tracker journey has begun as they are on the way to me now. Im goin with 3 bifacial 400watt panels, 150lb total, that will be apx 134in wide before spacers (just over 11ft). What Id like to kno, is if anyone knows how to get 12ft solid unistruts? Is there such a size? Im in rural north michigan. As Im new to this, can someone tell me if there is only 6ft options? And do a 12ft need to be heavier than the 12 guage that are common? Also, What kind of battery do I need to shop for, to run the acuators? I kno its 12v, but what else do I need to kno to make the purchase? I experience february temps of 15 below zero F, and I see some of the candidate 12v batts have a limit around 32ºf! Any advice appreciated.
bifacial panels, awesome! I wish I had an application for those I have been wanting to try them. I think I use 10 foot unistrut that I got locally. I think you are good with 12 guage unless you have heavy loads like wind and snow, but in that case the tracker isn't a good idea. The battery can be lead acid but at -15 you would need a heater, or go with a lithium with a built in heater.
My FIL has 8N too.
Nice. They should put a solar dome on the mountain.
I would rather they stuck a cell tower up there so I can get better internet. :)
I have 2 trackers, 2 diffrent versions and i never have issues...
Yeah I just got one about 2 weeks ago and it keeps disconnecting! It's junk!!!😡😡
Slow and steady.
Mint. Rodents hate the scent of mint. Either cotton balls with a few drops of mint essential oil tucked into corners, cabinets etc. (renew maybe monthly with the oil), or get a big bottle of Bronner's liquid soap in peppermint, and use to wash floors, wipe out cabinets etc. They really do hate the scent of mint.
Nice trailer to be rent out.
Problem is, being a hermit means I don't want company. :}
At first I thought it was Mike from Living Free channels rig, but your trailer is much too clean. Just subscribed also.
Awesome!
Great floor plan (open) have you a guest Peace
Not a bad little rig! God bless!
Great Job! That's a awesome drag someone made! God Bless!
this is a pretty old version of the ECO-Worthy Tracker, way better now
The compression looks acceptable for the tractor's age
Liquimoly oil flush and Marvel Mystery Oil might clean deposits (varnish), and allow the rings to free up, Compression might improve .
Thanks I'll look into that
Hi, are you still happy with the solar tracker? I often get high straight line winds. So a little worried here in Texas.
If you have strong winds where you are, you should get something different. It doesn't do well in the wind.
Thank you
Nice work!
You made it look easy. Good fix!
Thanks, I just ordered a new axle, hub, and brakes. Lets see how easy I can make that look.
Keep us updated I would like to know how this turns out
will do
Before buying the Eco Worthy tracker Iread their manual. They say when the wind exceeds 17,2 m per sec (about 67 km/h) better unclip the panels. How do you manage with your tracker at stormy weather? What have you experienced?
something more robust would be better. The eco worthy is light duty at best and has suffered in the wind here.
Sweet!!!
U got the old version.. the new one is much much better!
Nilark nuts
I mean if it can hold up to your winds, then its going to be a good buy for me :)
OH you have there SUPER old version.. the new one is 10000 times better! Also we can see that you havent been doing your weekly inspections as the manual suggests :)
That's a bummer I had one that just quit working too! Ordered another one and it's working good but every once in awhile it goes off on it's own away from the sun! We just put up a second tracker so far it's working good! New sub here! God bless Tony n Lee Ann
