SPRO CCTV - How to Install, Add, View & Playback using Smart PSS Lite
Welcome to our step-by-step guide on installing and setting up SmartPSS Lite on your PC! If you're looking for a reliable way to monitor your security cameras from your computer, this video is for you. We'll walk you through the entire process-from downloading and installing the software to configuring your cameras for live viewing and playback.
You may be familiar with the DMSS application on your mobile device; however, did you know that you can also access your cameras from your PC?
In this video, we will demonstrate how to install SmartPSS Lite on your PC.
00:22 How to Install SmartPSS Lite:
1. Navigate to www.sprocctv.com
2. On the right side of the page, click on "Downloads."
3. Scroll down until you locate SmartPSS Lite. In this example, we will use the Windows download option.
4. The software will start downloading.
5. Once the download is complete, navigate to your downloads folder.
6. You will find a zip folder titled SmartPSS Lite.
7. Right-click on the folder and select "Extract all."
8. Then click on "Extract."
9. A new window will open containing the SmartPSS Lite application.
10. Double-click on the application.
11. The SmartPSS Lite installer will now initiate.
12. Accept the terms and conditions and click "Next."
13. In the subsequent window, click "Install."
14. The installation process will now proceed.
15. Once finished, select "Run SmartPSSLite" and then click "Finish."
16. The SmartPSS Lite software will load for the first time.

1. In the Scene menu, select "Video Monitor" and click "OK."
2 Agree to both terms and conditions
3. Enter a password for SmartPSS Lite and check the "Auto Log in" option to avoid re-entering credentials upon launching the software.
4. Select three security questions and provide answers, then click "Complete."
5. SmartPSS Lite will now automatically log in for the first time.
6. You may close the startup box that appears.
02:13 How to Add a recorder/camera to the SmartPSS Lite:
1. We will now add our recorder/camera for live viewing and playback.
2. Under the Management menu, click on "Devices."
3. Now, click "Add."
4. You can choose to add the device by serial number, IP address, or domain name.
The IP option is typically utilised for local connectivity when accessing the recorder on the same network or via port forwarding.
In this example, we will use the serial number. The serial number can be located on the base of the recorder or within the network menu in P2P.
5. Enter a device name, followed by the serial number, username, and password of the recorder.
6. Click "Add."
7. The added device will now be visible in the list.
8. If all details are correct, the online status will turn green, indicating it is online.

1. Now click on "Home."
2. You can now choose between Live View and Playback.
3. We will select Live View first.
4. In Live View, you will find your device listed in the left pane. Click on the site name, and a dropdown with all connected cameras will appear.

I am not seeing any difference between Dahua and S pro CCTV
Hello @rajjeg296, due to both brands using the same mobile app and very similar OS, it is very difficult to see the differences. However you may notice product variations; in the UK SPRO has a 4MP Active Deterrence Lite which the other brand you mentioned does not currently have an equivalent to.
To upgrade to these cameras do you need to upgrade the nvr for them to work correctly
Hi @wrighty6631, the Active Deterrent Lite cameras in this video will work on the SPRO A5 range of NVRs or newer.

Hi @update6815, could you get the serial number from the bottom of the recorder and email support@sprocctv.com? The support team will be able to advise what the options are when they have this.
Is it possible in reverse? 8 analog bnc cameras into a nvr lan system?
Hello @Nico-ci9qb, we do not recommend adding analogue cameras to an IP system. We are aware that there are encoders that aim to change an analogue signal to IP but this is not something we would recommend doing.

Hi @nassarali9780, You can change the time by going into main menu -> System -> Date & Time. Once you have adjusted the time make sure you press the save next to time zone before pressing apply. Alternatively, to make your recorder automatically follow the clocks changing you will need to turn on DST in this menu. The settings to use are as follows: Type: Week Start Time - March - Last Week - Sunday - 01:00 End Time - October - Last Week - Sunday - 02:00 We are looking to create a video tutorial on this very subject, please stay tuned for future videos here on SPRO CCTV.

Do these have the option of infrared? Are they British made, designed and manufactured? Are these available in kit form, including 4x cameras, cables, recorder, fixing kits etc?
Hi @yojomojo6262, these cameras have ColourNight 2.0 technology so can be configured to work with IR only. SPRO is a British brand so we have a lot of say in the product design here but the products are manufactured in the far east. We do not sell directly to the general public but there are companies that sell our products, it would be down to these companies if they were to be able to be sold in kit form. You should be able to find a list of these companies by using a google search. Hope this helps.
Can these have the flashing and white lights deactivated? So just works on infrared mode?
Hi @yojomojo6262, all of our cameras with ColourNight 2.0 technology, have the ability to be used with IR only.
IF YOUR EAGER TO MASTER THE BASICS ?????? .... Great but where and how do you access the set up wizard !!! .... providing a basic step by step guide usualy starts at the begining and not skip the first initial basic steps !
Hi @Graemkeen, the first screen you see on the video is the very first screen you should come across when powering on your NVR for the very first time. The only other way to access this is by defaulting your recorder and powering on the first time afterwards. If the DVR supports POC do you still need to provide a power source? / will this work with any SPRO dvrs without additional power?
Hello @ryanmason491, we do not recommend using Baluns with a POC recorder. Although it may seem like it's working, Baluns will draw an electric current from the DVR and could cause a fire. Ordinarily a POC camera with a POC enabled DVR being run over coaxial cable would be fine if they were from the same manufacturer. Hope this helps.
Can these cameras be used outside?
yes! these cameras are made of metal and I believe its IP67

@WillClancy we have alarm tracking on several of our IP PTZ cameras, these are the DHIPPTZ40/5XLR-D (Human tracking only), DHIPPTZ40/25XLR-I-D, DHIPPTZ20/25XR-AI-V2 and DHIPPTZ80/25XR-AI-V2. Hi, do you specifically want a website or will an app be ok? There are many apps that will allow you to pull in the feed from different CCTV sites. If you are happy to switch between sites then the DMSS app that is recommended with SPRO products will work. If you are looking for one that you can view different cameras from different sites at the same time/on the same screen then that will be a bit more specialised and you will probably have to pay for that.

How can I factory reset because we don’t know the password on initial set up
Hi @game4alaughman, if you do not have the password or access to the recovery email address that would have been setup during initial installation then you will need to contact a local security installer. Unfortunately, due to security reasons, we are not able to assist in resetting passwords or factory resetting devices.

Hi there thanks for the tutorial. When I save the video and look at the file on my phone the video looks distorted and not like the original view when I downloaded it. It looks warped. How can I resolve this?
Hello @lifeofamomph, when you say warped, do you mean stretched on both sides? This most probably has something to do with the aspect ratio settings on the recorder. Could you email support@sprocctv.com some sample images of where your images appeared warped? The support team will be able to guide you on any next steps once they see the issue. Thanks.

Hello @lifeofamomph, thanks for confirming. Does the live view also look stretched when viewing from your phone, particularly when viewing it landscape? It could be the phone trying to maximise the screen size so it pulls the images to the corners. When you hold your phone normally in live view does it look different?

Hi my uncle uses dmss app but when he saves a clip to emulated movies folder on android phone its not there when he looks in movies folder its empty even though it said saving to this place,any idea what he' doing wrong please?
Hello @kerryskardon5664, we're sorry to hear that your Uncle is having issues with the app. Could you ask him if he is exporting from the app itself? If so the file will be saved in the pictures folder of the android phone as default. If your uncle is saving directly from the recorder we would recommend he switched to the app so that the file is saved in a 'playable' format. Hope this helps. Parallellius this would be a great idea but under initial investigation George Foreman Grills do not have any API's we can use..... @GeorgeForemanCookingCo could you rig something up? We were thinking that a camera sitting outside the grilling area could detect movement and trigger a grill to start warming up...

Can surveillance cameras be altered and edited?
Hello Nancy, Any footage that a camera records on an SPRO system cannot be edited directly for security purposes. If you wanted to edit footage then this will need to be copied from the recorder and edited elsewhere, but the recording on the NVR/DVR will remain unedited.

When I export to a MP4 format and try to play it back on a Windows 10 machine I get an error saying ' The item was encoded in a format that's not supported '' ...........any ideas ? tia.
When it comes to playing downloaded footage we find that VLC player tends to be able to handle most formats well without the need to download additional codecs.

Hi Billy, Could you advise what you are using to detect humans and vehicles on your recorder, is it SMD, motion or IVS? To turn the buzzer on you will need to go into the appropriate menu and select buzzer. For example it is motion detection for channel 1 you will need to turn it on in there. Turning the notifications off on DMSS is done by going into the app and then device. Click on the 3 dots on the right hand side and go to device details. Go to multichannel alarm subscription and turn it off. Hope this helps.

Hi Does the white led come on even if the say the camera has good light like a street lamp to help create the colour image as I like the idea of it coming on with motion as a deterant but one of my cameras is facing a street light and it still records but the white led doesn't trigger ?
Thank you for your enquiry into our products. This will depend on how bright the light from the street lamp is. If it is so bright the camera does not need to go into night mode then the white light will not come on at all.
How do i factory reset the cameras i believe mines are the 4mp day / night ip cameras is there a physical button or pin hole on camera or a sequence of action that need to be carried out to reset

What is the software or app called ive got an issue were all my cameras when selected ask for password i enter it and it says account locked any ideas how to resolve
Hi, the phone app is called DMSS and the PC application is called Smart PSS lite. If you are getting a message that says the account has been locked it means there have been too many login attempts with the wrong password. You will need to reboot the recorder to unlock it and try the correct password again once it boots up.
Hi thanks for reply i have both rebooted then factory reset the nvr put in new password but once i am on my recorder when i connect the cameras it is there on live where i should have my 4 x camera feeds i have camera ip addresses i add my newly instated password and then account locked appears on each feed do i need to reset the cameras and if so can i do this remotely or do i need to get to camera any help with this is greatly appreciated
@@johnmcdonald6550 The cameras have passwords of their own, most likely this would have been the same password as the recorder itself before it was defaulted. Unfortunately, the cameras will need to be defaulted if you do not know the password. I would suggest getting in touch with your installer for this.
Can this be connect to you’r hdr? And can you can a separate internal screen by your front door?
Hi Raj, The VI-STN04 can be added to our recorders as an IP camera so it can be viewed and record footage. If it is a DVR it will be done in the same way as laid out in the below video: th-cam.com/video/AH9NGXm3dsc/w-d-xo.html You can have the VI-STN04 added to a VI-MTR03-B or VI-MTR04-B just like our other intercoms.

I I don't have the illumination settings on my app? How do I get this?
Hi Neil, There are two possible reasons you're unable to see the illumination settings. One being that the recorder has old firmware or the cameras themselves are not offering the option. Hi I have switched my lights off, but I only have the setting for warm light mode, not all 3 settings. Is this possible because I downloaded the App from the App store and did not scan the QR codes on my monitor, I'm not sure if its worth deleting my App and scanning off my monitor ???
Hi, Just having the option to turn the light on or off may reveal that your camera isn't a smart dual illumination camera. In previous models, there were cameras that had an LED light but no infrared. It may be that you have one of these models.
