3 Last Minute CVC Words Lesson Activities
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
3 Last Minute CVC Words Lesson Activities
Students in kindergarten should learn letter sound relationships to decode, including VC, CVC, CCVC, and CVCC words. IF they master the skill before the end of kindergarten then you may teach decoding words with initial and final consonant blends, digraphs, and trigraphs.
Yes! That's why I said I introduce these skills after they've mastered CVC words. Honestly I've always had about 90% of the class easily master digraphs and blends by the end of Kindergarten.
Where do I buy it?
Hi Dawn! You can find the links in the description above. The unit is available here: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Phonics-Unit-Alphabet-Recognition-and-Letter-Sounds-Lessons-3962731 and the full curriculum bundle is available here: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Phonics-Curriculum-Bundle-Lessons-and-Activities-for-the-Year-3963002
thank you! i am starting my student teaching and every video I'm watching, blog post I'm reading, and teacher I'm talking to are all referencing "write the room". And at this point I feel I'm too far into it to ask for clarification, hahaa
I never have enough time to teach phonemic awareness on a daily basis as much as I want to.
Love this. Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for.
Excellent video!
I have that same Lilly clip notebook!
I love your videos, blog posts and printables! Thanks for doing what you do ♥️
New subscriber here ! ❤ I teach special needs students and your website and emails have helped me a lot! Thanks 😊
Do you recommend printing duplicate goals?
Yes! I'd recommend printing a few duplicates of each one, so that multiple students can have the same goal if they want to.
How do you use boom cards if students don’t use technology Can it be teacher guided on white board?
Yes! You can display this on a Smart board or any other interactive board and play with your students as a whole group lesson!
Your idea with the white board is really great. If you're working with sounds (phonemes), help me understand why you're using the vowels and consonants in your lesson? I have been taught that sound manipulation is working with sounds only; not to use letters. The students could use counters or cubes for the sounds in the words instead of the letters you're using. I also have to do an artifact for a reading academy, and our assignment was specific to sounds. When I watched your video, it contradicts what we were taught, and I got a bit confused. Thanks for your time.
Hi Eunice, This activity is one you can use to help bridge phonemic awareness skills to phonics skills. Ideally, you would be working on a phonemic awareness warm up lesson daily, which is mainly done orally. Once students are able to do this skill orally, you want to add in sounds to connect it to phonics. The end goal of phonemic awareness is to help your students decode and spell, so the sooner you can add in letters to represent the sounds the better. It is actually a common misconception that phonemic awareness must be done orally only. You can read more about that here: www.campbellcreatesreaders.com/blog/painstruction Let me know if you need any more clarification or have any additional questions by emailing me at Kristina@sweetforkindergarten.com Thanks! Kristina
Very helpful & thoughtful. Thanks 💞
Thank you!b How do you make your slide so colorful?
Do you have any lesson plan examples?
Hi! You can find the unit here: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Phonics-Consonant-Blends-and-Digraphs-Unit-4397822?TH-cam&SFK+TH-cam+%7C+Teaching+Blends+and+Digraphs-+Phonics+Unit Just click on the preview and you will be able to see a sample lesson plan. Thanks!
Hi Kristina. I'd like these daily warmups for 6 weeks. How do I access them? Can I purchase them for kinders?
We use nonsense words. Our district has made it a mandatory assessment. I've been teaching kindergarten for 3 yrs. Thanks for the video.
Great info, thanks
Thanks!
You talk too much, and only one sentence.
What was the point of your comment? To be mean? You could have easily thumbs down the video or moved on to another one....OR both. 🙄
THIS IS AWESOME! I have to create a lesson for my TEA Artifact 6 and this was a great suggestion.
Yay! I am glad you found it helpful!
I'm so glad I saw your comment, I was thinking the exact same thing for my artifact! What kind of feedback did you get when you did a lesson similar to this one?
I planned to purchase this glad you made a video
Hi :) where did you buy that green holder?
It's linked in the description. The one I have is discontinued, but I found a similar one.
Where can I find the rhyming cards for the dice?
The rhyming cards are found in the Rhyming Unit here: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Phonics-Rhyming-Words-Unit-4121956
I found your video great. The scenery is so beautiful. Wish I could go there once. Thank you so I found your video great. The scenery is so bea. I like too. Good like toooo
The volume is far to low for me. I can hardly make out what you are saying
Thank you for letting me know! I am not sure why it is so low in this video, it sounded fine on my computer before uploading it. I will try to fix it!
How stupid turn your volume up ?? She sounds fine
She may have a very quiet voice, I had to turn up the volume all the way.
The video sound is indeed too low. My volume is up all the way and still too low.
Good tips! Thanks
This is my 2nd year teaching kinder and we did not get to CVCe words last year due to COVID. These tips were super helpful! Thanks so much!
Where is your list of CVC words on TPT?
Hi Cyndi! You can find them in the CVC word unit here- www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Phonics-CVC-Words-Unit-4320325
This is big help for Preschool teachers. Thank you!
Do you have a specific clean up song you use? Is your timer displayed?
I use the website - www.classtools.net/timer/ displayed on the SMART board. You can find more info on the blog post linked!
This is great. I do something similar. Next week I am introducing a sight word spinner. (Pencil+paper clip) spin, write the word, tick off the word and spin again.
Nice!!!!
This is a great idea! I don’t think my Junior Kindergarteners are independent enough for this yet, but I love it.
Great information Kristina! I teach K also and we do teach nonsense words also. Its' actually one of our DIBELS assessments as well.
Just found this channel. I'm going to do this with my kinders in a slightly different way. Many of my students are still working on letter sounds.

Hi! Fellow kinder teacher and mom to a 1 year old- I love how concise and helpful these videos are! Wish you would have had these up a few years ago . Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm so glad they are helpful for you!
Great ideas!! I'll be using these in my K class. Thanks!
Wow! Watching this as the mom of a newly four-year-old. What skills are children expected to enter kindergarten with, as far as reading and writing? Are most children able to read before starting?
Its a wide range of abilities coming into K! Most kids know letters and sounds, and some can read simple words. But don't worry- your child's kindergarten teacher will make sure your child is on the right track! Most K teachers (myself included) would rather have parents focus on fostering independence (like zipping up jacket, using bathroom independently) and just understanding respect and listening to others- both the teacher and other students! I wouldn't worry about academics, but more the social/emotional aspect of development before kindergarten. Hope this helps!
@@sweetforkindergarten Thank you so much for the reassurance! I appreciate your response and we will definitely focus on the things you mentioned!
Is the first lesson available to view “How to Write a Sentence?” Thank you.
Yes! You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/CT6rjNjgPkc/w-d-xo.html
This was very helpful. Thank you. Did you say you have a checklist to check the sentences with? I couldn't find it.
Yes I do! You can find that blog post here: sweetforkindergarten.com/complete-sentence-checklist/
Thank you for sharing...Been looking for ideas and how to do this
