    Weed is legal, but as someone who lives just east, I find Toronto is a rat race. Being a tourist is chill. And ya, the weed helps if you partake but if you think Toronto is chill, then Montreal and Vancouver are horizonatal !

    The Toronto Islands were not originally man-made. Instead, they were formed hundreds of years ago by lakeside cliffs miles away eroding and the resulting silt gathered in the bay and formed the basis of the islands. However, much of the land where the small regional airport is was reclaimed from excavation debris, as was the Leslie Spit which is entirely man-made.

    You should do better research of your commentary. The Toronto islands were NOT created by dumping construction rubble. The islands are natural and one of the reasons that it formed a good natural harbour which was one of the considerations for the British both militarily and commercially. The waterfront WAS extended with rubble dumping, however, and that may be the source of your confusion.

    The Toronto Islands are NOT the result of constuction rubbish being dumped in the lake. They are natural formations that have been there since time immemorial, used by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Islands

    No, the Toronto Islands are natural islands. Although at one time they were a peninsula. In i858 a strong storm created the eastern gap making the peninsula islands. Maybe you're thinking of the Leslie Street spit which was created with fill.

      @@louisandchlo I love Yorkshire! Harrogate, Leeds.. but especially York. I find Northerners and folk from the Midlands to be so much more friendly than London; they remind me a lot more of Canadians. A lot of towns in Ontario have northern place names because so many early settlers came from there, as well as Scotland and Ireland. When John Graves Simcoe settled Toronto in 1793, he called it the Town of York. I think wisely in 1834 they reverted to the old First Nations name of Toronto. There was too much confusion with New York, and I think it is nice to have some old Indigenous names; it is a huge part of our Canadian culture. There still is an East York, and a North York in Toronto, and a York Street downtown. You know how some cities have a particular sandwich (Montreal is smoked meat, New York is pastrami, etc). I know you are vegan, but the Toronto sandwich is Peameal Bacon on a bun, which is basically just a bacon buttie, a very Northern thing. A simple idea, but Toronto is the only place left in North America that does them! Do come back some day, and you will be most welcome!☺

  • @bobbbxxx

    What an excellent visit! 9:10 You are the very first vlog that I've seen which even seems to have noticed all the hundreds of weed shops! It is so obvious when you visit Toronto, but almost no one mentions it! 😆9:10 Those things you ate in Spain were churros.. they eat them in Mexico too! You can get them fresh in Kensington Market, Toronto.

    • @louisandchlo
      @louisandchlo ปีที่แล้ว

      So glad you enjoyed! Yes there are so many weed shops… and literally everyone smoking it too! Ah but churros are like long sticks - the things I had were like flatter versions of beavertails!

    • @bobbbxxx
      @bobbbxxx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louisandchlo I see! The pastry you ate in Spain must have been called something different. It is impossible not to notice the plethora of weed shops in Toronto; some with hilarious names. The person who sells you it is called a "Budtender" haha! Yet almost every visitor vblog on TH-cam manages to studiously ignore them for some reason! Maybe they disapprove. The cannabis laws are different in every province; in Toronto it is legal to smoke wherever cigarette smoking is allowed, and you can grow a certain amount at home if you wish. The laws in Quebec are much stricter, however, and they don't really allow the edibles or home-grown there, but there are some government-run stores where you can go to buy it. Not as convenient but it is available.
