Bentley stepping over the framing
I've decided to let HerpDerp (Sulcata tortoise) continue digging her burrow. Instead of taking a chance of collapsing it or having a pig fall into it, I'm building a deck over it. I put down the base yesterday and saw Bentley gracefully walking through it this morning.

HerpDerp the 13 year old tortoise moved Cappy the 14 year old potbelly pig out of his portable hut, then dug a hole. I found it this morning when I went out to feed. I moved the hut and ran water into the hole to get her out. She spent the day digging it out more and is sleeping in the hole now. I'll let her dig for a while but will fill it in in a day or so. This morning I dropped a couple blocks in the hole she dug under the gate, hoping it would stop her temporarily until I can do a better job blocking her view past the small fence. She is persistent.

I'm making a separate area for my elder pig Cappy. My Sulcata dug under the gate that keeps the other pigs out. Today I noticed my youngest pig in the area along with the tortoise. I checked cameras and discovered how Emmett got in.

The rats have discovered that there's food out at night for the opossums. I had to get a trap for the unwanted rats. Tonight I caught my first rat and it was not happy, especially when the opossum showed up.

Theses guys still show up every night. The opossum sleeps in the cooler and isn't bothered when I come out to refill the water and food bowls.

Trying to open the catfood

The food bowl was empty and this raccoon found a Planters container of catfood that was out there for the early morning refill.
Raccoon comes in to take a 1 hour nap (32x speed)

This was his 3rd visit to my garage last night. He's not a regular. The female comes every night. Last night was the first time I've seen one come inside to sleep on the concrete. I'm really curious why he came in to sleep right under the light.

Completely wild. This is a feed area outside my side door. They stop by on their nightly travels to see what I've put out for them. Sadly I had to dismantle the feed areas and they eventually stopped coming by.
That trapped rat looked at the possum and screamed DAMN!!!.….WTF ARE YOU!!!!!????... PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!!!.....😥

It makes me laugh to see the dirt come flying out. Does she have a purpose for digging a hole? How much does she weigh?
She's about 80 pounds, I need to weigh her soon. Tortoises dig burrows and she does a couple times a year. I let her do it for the exercise, but we have sandy soil and I fear a collapse. I fill them in shortly after she digs them. She has a nice hut to sleep in.

So you feed & house the possums, but draw the line with mice, (that was a mouse). Probably cuz you think possums don't chew thru your house & live inside your walls, right? Guess what... Any female living in your territory, who's "time" is approaching, is preparing a nest in the space between your roof & your ceiling. You will eventually see urine spots, & it will smell. & depending on your type of insulation, you could be causing an unimaginably horrible, painful death to not just her, but possibly slow enough for the babies too. I recommend offering all wild animals safe boxes to sleep in, with plenty of pillow stuffing & cotton. So they don't destroy your things. If you have an outdoor water heater, as I did, store your seeds, nuts there with the cotton. Then put handfuls of each where you want them to nest:). Please have fun. & drop us a video...
