Regarding short hair and sunny climate: I used to have very long hair when I lived in Australia and when I cut my hair short my head actually became a lot hotter in the sun. I figured long hair had protected my shoulders and back, where as with short hair the sun directly shone onto my ears head neck shoulders and back.

What a horrible haircut. I'll never understand these young guys' taste.

I don't like the current fad of "fluffy" or "curly" bangs. It is not a good look, and it impede vision and contributes to forehead acne. Fortunately, the style finally is starting to fade away. That all said, you're a good barber and you gave him what he apparently wanted.
