Who remembers in tecmo super bowl III that the stat points you got for creating a player were random. I spent countless hours going back in and out of the menu to try and get the most points to create an overpowered player.

The original Tecmo Bowl on NES my brother and I re-rented it SO much from the store that they ended up just giving it to us.. my mom went up to the counter and they said something like "Again? Just take it." We had rented it out to the equivalent of its sale price, so.. yeah. That was nice of them. Classic times. __ The original 12 team lineup was based on the NFL's playoff teams the previous year.

The players were probably made smaller in Tecmo Super Bowl to try and avoid sprite flicker. There is a limit of 8 sprites per scanline on NES. The bigger the players the more likely to hit the limit on any given scan line.

The original arcade needs a ROM hack to make the players a bit faster then it would be good.

Tecmo Bowl still king. Wish they'd try and do a proper NFL licensed reboot. Also wish my parents had bought me this for my Gameboy, instead of the mediocre Bo Jackson Two in One, lol.

I have one of these found it around a year ago in an antique toy mall for a steal, and it was in basically perfect shape. I used to over time twice have the Tomy Astro Pinball, and this one I find a LOT more fun. The other earlier Tomys were pretty basic with roll over metal stuff, or the astro which had pads and a drop hole but it was super generic. This one is their most advanced as it has the whirlwind spinner, rotation type cup thing, and the way the bumpers and contacts pop it responds a bit more like a (then) modern pin right down to the fun high ramps out of the feature areas. Also I think your mic really was overstating the sound, it's just not that loud. It is loud in general, but it's not as loud as the overly deafening audio of the Astro Shooter tomy did which even on low was more ear piercing than the motor on this thing. Sonic to me really is their best table, just wish it could use a power plug like astro shooter did.

ok so basically in the Japanese cartridges you just have 2 volumes, not 3 and these games are all included in the 2 volume that sport 6 games each instead of 4. Wow I got a deal and I was not aware of it ;)

The "soundtracks" are far and away the LEAST impressive thing about this or any other game. I would mute the game and play it with REAL music.

In tecmo super bowl you can put defensive players on offense. Ronnie Lott is a better running back than bo Jackson. Still have my original NES and my beloved tecmo Superbowl. Montana to Lott , can't be touched.

Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) remains my favorite football game to this day. When you hear that playoff music you know shit's about to get intense.

The NES version of Tecmo Super Bowl played faster than the SNES or Sega versions. This bummed me out.

There are no exact words to say how much I loved Tecmo Super Bowl when it came out.......full seasons, real teams, real players, full playoffs, stats for days, playbooks......it was like we'd died and gone to football heaven. I remember summers where I'd just set the game to simulate all 17 weeks, come back to my room 30 min later and pick team to run the playoffs with.....good times

For me, it's Spider-Man, Thor, X-Men would be my top 3. Least favorite is definitely Venom. Good stuff brother 🤝

It’s not fair how fast our childhood went by. The 80’s and 90’s were truly magical times and I wish I’d have known then that it was going to be my peak time of happiness because I would have tried to take in the moments more. I am blessed to have babies of my own now and I love them unconditionally, but I would be a liar if I told you I don’t often think back to being a kid with a longing nostalgia.

I need a "roguelike" of this. Tecmo Survivors? The first person to pull that off could buy an island to retire on.

Before all this, about all we had was those NFL pencils to play with. I remember trading those viciously. 😂

In the final Playatation version I would play my team (Raiders) vs a Super team of all pro players and a defense with players that had jacked up abilities to the point i would lose 9 out of 10 games played. My guys were constantly put on stretchers, forced punts, most of my playbook was useless vs the super defense. It was the most fun version ever becayse I just couldnt dominate it like all other versions. I dont think i ever cracked 100 yrds rushing and my pass plays had to be absolute precision.

Tecmobowl throwback still has online going but you'll probably need a buddy to invite. I still play it with my friends.
