An audio bit I created for KFJC Radio's annual fundraising drive -- based upon two of Emily's photos. The other DJs seem to like this one and it is getting lots of airtime. Look at the picture for a second, then close your eyes and listen. That is what it was designed for.

A Gavel and a Basket of Kittens at a recent KFJC Staff Meeting. Last year, two of the promos I created for KFJC radio's annual fundraiser involved pets. This year is our 6oth anniversary, so it is extra important that we meet our goals. That makes it worth a few sacrifices. Right? I threw together this video to go with my audio spot. Larry, Emily, and I all made into it into this video.

I used to clean my microwave and clean the oil I would find. And it would fix the touch screen. But this post helped me realize exactly what and why that was helping. Thank you
Hey Joe excellent video. I have been doing this for years. I believe the issues come from the ribbon cable. Would be good to replace that connector on the pcb. Need to id the connector.
Video repair guide worked perfectly. Thanks for this excellent fix. The hardest part of the whole process was negotiating with my wife for the over the range access!
Fix for the dredded 'SE' error: This is a failure of the membrane keypad connected to the circuit control board. Had a Samsung technician replace it years ago (it was a known issue, and under warranty), but now these parts run $110+!!! Instead of replacing, you can attempt to fix it FOR FREE: remove the control panel (for mine, this involved 2 tiny screws on top to remove the top front vent frame, then 1 screw to remove the panel, then disconnect the flex-ribbon to the keypad, then 4 screws to remove the circuit board). Once you have the touch pad, you need to dehumidify it -- no joke, put it in your refrigerator for a few hours. Or put it in a big container filled with rice. Whatever method you have. If you refrigerate, ensure no condensation develops as it warms up (I put mine in my oven preheated to 100F). Or you could seal it in a plastic bag for a couple hours with all the air out until it's warm again. Now reassemble, and see if it works again. Just did it myself and it worked!
15 year old microwave brought back to life. Thanks so much.
Worked for me but used alcohol and Qtip not eraser😊
Detached the control panel and cleaned it with dust off and 91% isopropyl alcohol. So far so good.
Saw this 12 years ago when it was a reasonably new post and wondered what this guys up to these days.
Thanks so much. It works perfectly. Love it
Thanks ... after the first cleaning the se came back after a few seconds ... the second time I recleaned the ribbon cable with the eraser and followed with some ipa. Working great now.
Saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you!

Make sure you discharge the capacitor on the main board. Take an insulated screwdriver and touch both wires coming out of the capacitor with the insulated screwdriver. This will discharge any residual voltage/electricity in the capacitor. To be safe I always use my multimeter set to the highest setting for AC or DC voltage. Depending on whether the capacitor is a AC or DC voltage. This is to make sure that the capacitor is fully discharged of any residual voltage/electricity. I’ve been shocked by an old vehicle points capacitor that wasn’t discharged. Luckily the capacitor had low current. It shocked and startled me. When I discovered this. With my lawnmower running. I would hold a capacitor’s wire coming out of it. To the tip of the spark plug. Then ground the body of the capacitor to the head of a running lawnmower engine for 10 seconds or so.,Using a pair of insulated needle nose pliers and a insulated screwdriver. Then throw it to one of my friends. My friends got me many times with a charged points capacitor.
Thank you, it worked!😊
cant believe this video is 11 years old. I have a got newer version of Samsung microwave. The same issue, resolved it with the same way as yours. A big thanks to you!. Disappointing that Samsung hasn't addressed this issue....
As a person who's been shooting and editing video for 40 plus years, my compliments for an incredibly clear, lucid and well made video about a problem that I have to fix for my niece. Thanks again for making this available, and doing such a good job
Really useful, it's worked, thank you brother.
I tried what your video states and it worked! After about 10 minutes it went back to the SE on the screen. I thoroughly did exactly as the video explained again and this time it came on with the SE on the screen. I'm assuming that I need a new keypad. However, it looks like it worked for a lot of others. Thanks
By the way, my microwave is 12 years old
I can't believe it worked 😮, thank you
My microwave is 10 years old. I don’t know how much, but I added some life to it thanks to your video.
Great video. Fixed Thank you
Great Fiz ! 👏
The best trouble shooting video I’ve seen!! No fills, excellent DETAILED video THANK YOU FOR SHARING and helping us ❤
I have done this twice 1 year apart and this fix works!!! Thank you!!
You are awesome, it worked on my microwave. Thank u very much..
Hi Joe - Thank so much this instructive video. I followed your directions and viola my microwave is working again. I did have to repeat the cleaning steps a couple of time but so glad I perservered. Hopefully the fix keeps working. Keep on making these! You have a strong aptitude for fixin' and teachin'.😊
Thank you. This was very clear and easy to follow. I fixed mine following your instructions. Thank you!!
This worked perfectly for me. I used isopropyl alcohol swabs to clean all the contacts on the ribbon cable and used a toothpick to get in and around the pins of the other connectors. 15 minutes of guided work saved me from buying a replacement microwave. Best how-to video I ever watched. Didn't leave out a step.
Not only is this video instructional and well presented, but you also have a natural narrator tone, very pleasant to the ear. Maybe you should make this your day job? Thank you for helping me. EDIT: I did it! Thanks to you, I fixed the SE error code, my microwave is working again. Let's hope it stays fixed. 😅
Worked! You're a terrific teacher, presenter, mechanic, and videographer.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the detailed video to repair the"SE" code on my Samsung attached microwave. Your video is easy to understand and by following the instructions given my microwave is working properly again. Awesome!
This worked for my 13yo frigidaire microwave.
Anyone know what is the round disk (with 2 solder bump connections on it's face) seen near the ribbon cable?
I fixed 2nd times. Good video
You ROCK!. Excellent instructions!. Tyvm.
Had a 1 year old Samsung microwave and it pulled up the same code. Did this exact same thing and it fixed it! Thank you!
Thanks for the informative video, it worked. So far, so good :)
Unplug it let it dry out for a week...after I plugged it in it came right back on
too many years gone by
Thank you this worked you are Awesome
Great!my dear friend 😎😍
the best video to fix the 5e error code ! I was able to fix it just by disconnecting the ribbon cable and rubbing the contacts with a pencil eraser! 😊
Oh they look so easy I definitely gotta try this
these microwave is such garbage mines died after Eight years
Thank you! Works for me with more modern model SamsungMC28H5013AS/EU. Only the start button was not operating so I just clean it with a bit of alcohol.
Thank you so much. I bought a new microwave and was getting ready to install it when I found your TH-cam. Fixed it in 15 minutes. Saved hundreds of $$.
Well done and very clear. I like to make a suggestion too. Take a few photos of the circuit board before removing connections for location and position instead of marking each connector. I do this religiously when working on any type of electronic device or wiring. Always save the photos for future use or reference.
Staged"?? I drove past this guy several times as he spun. Finally I brought my camera with me and filmed the video exactly as you see it here. I had not talked to him till the moment just before you see me ask my first question on the video. Long time ago, and I probably asked him if I could film just before I turned on the camera and started asking questions.
This staged
Very detailed video though our top microwave vent had a center screw too. Also, it was just the ribbon cable that needed pencil eraser cleaning. Everything else was good maintenance but that's all that code required to clear.
