Emily lives in a home in Elmhurst called Monarch with her beloved housemates. Her days are spent doing the things she loves. She volunteers in her community at the Elmhurst Community Learning Services, hangs out with her friends at Gateway Special Recreation Association, and rides therapeutic horses at the Hanson Center barn.

The therapeutic horsemanship program uses 20 horses to provide opportunities children and adults with physical or intellectual disabilities of all ages to experience the joy and therapeutic benefits of riding horses. This therapeutic practice, along with a variety of farm animals at the barn, encourage social interaction and speech development in riders of all ages.
