    I had this tree in my backyard and it uprooted with the wind. I don’t understand how people say, it’s invasive . My tree was 18 inch in diameter and a huge umbrella , didn’t give me any problems

    Great info, sad to hear about this ailment. I recently had to take out two large sugarberrys on my property that were not doing great because of root gurdling,, I did save seed from them both, would you have any knowledge of how to effectively propagate them? I'm in SW florida

    I think I killed the only one that lived by me, probably been in teh area since colonial days. I was foraging for pawpaws and kept getting cut so I stomped it to death, I honestly thought it was some invasive plant. sorry about that mr devil walking stick

    The Dawn redwood that I planted about 14 years ago is about 25 ft tall, but the top 3 feet of the tree is bending over. Not sure how to correct it.

    • @JenniferM13
      @JenniferM13 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it doesn't correct itself, cut the top and let it form a new leader.

    • @blakespower
      @blakespower ปีที่แล้ว

      that happened with a bald cypress I had, I think like a nutrient deficiency causes it, it started bending in the middle of summer after a few weeks of rain, maybe it grew to fast at the top with foliage making it top heavy, but after all the needles fell off in the fall it corrected itself by the next spring

    I planted this tree 14 years ago because of the great reviews I read. It’s pretty and provides shade but It’s reseeds throughout my yard. It drops a lot of twigs and has awful surface roots. I wish I had never heard of it.

    werent they originally native to the USA Eastern mountain areas before europeans cut down all the trees on the coastal plains for farms, then they spread out from the mountains, especially with help from birds who eat their seeds, thats why you see them frequently growing by fences and under power lines along the roadside, the birds would poo out the undigested seeds, and its a great sunny place usually for them to grow

  • @GoneCarnivore

    One of my favorites. I grew some of these with cuttings. Has reached about 15 feet tall in 5 years which is probably slow for the species. They are so easy to propagate and they grow so fast that it's a waste to buy them.

  • @GoneCarnivore

    They are escaping for sure. In Louisiana I'm seeing them pop up everywhere near where they are planted such as in hedges, in the wooded areas surrounding a parking lot, cracks in the sidewalk is a very common place to see them. Just plant native elms instead such as Cedar Elm and Winged Elm.
