Wax Dipping Bee Hive Boxes

I like to run it hot! It’s mostly microcrystalline wax so flash point is around 225.c -245.c After 10-15 minutes of cooking 4 coats of concrete paint is applied and within 30 minutes the boxes are completely dried!

Wax Dipping Bee Hive Woodware

What is wax dipping? Wax dipping is a process where hot wax is heated to around 170.c and the wooden components of the hive (usually the base, lid and supers) are essentially ‘cooked’ for 10 to 15 minutes. The molten wax penetrates deep into woodware - up to 50mm in end grain - replacing the sap, air and moisture, which is boiled off. Beekeepers in Australia and New Zealand have been using this...

0:18 Bandit is an hornet
How much of each wax in KGs does it take to fill the tank please Also love the jig too
It takes 70kg in total
@@bensbees9761 thanks very much Ben
🌸 my favourite honey is actually very rare and very dangerous to obtain Mad Honey from Nepal, they collect it from Himalayan cliffs, and depending on grade, quality and purity, this affects the price It’s currently more than elvish honey This unique honey is harvested from rhododendron flowers. It’s sort after due to the intoxicating levels you can get from purest grade, as it contains grayanotoxins. I just love unique flavour, not that sweet & you can’t have too much at a time 😊 My second favourite is more rare and cannot be bought off web, it’s near beautiful exotic beaches off island with its own rainforest. The particular beekeeper has crops of red hibiscus 🌺 and other beautiful exotic flowers His honey is so dark, looks black until you realise it’s just ruby red & smells heavenly, thick rich body and sweet to taste He sells only few at a time, first come first serve. Then it’s gone till next harvest 🥺 I do miss natural pure delicious honey from comb and unprocessed, really delicious 😋
Elvish Honey, not Manuka, is the most expensive. Turkish btw.
what kind of paint do you use with the hot wax ?
I think bees are his favorite animal
Hi Ben, I am having trouble with the wick size. A lot of Wax melts and the Flame doesn't burn high enough. Any ideas? I Trend iut many different wick sizes.

European Wasps Are Called Yellow Jackets And Also Its Plague To Australia 🇦🇺 United States 🇺🇸 And Canada 🇨🇦
It's been a year, make a follow up stream.
I have a hot wax dip tank and hot dip my wooden ware. I have found that when the hives are exposed to hot sunshine the wax bleeds through the paint causing the paint to rub off on anything that comes in contact with it. Food hygiene here have not yet flagged it here.
Love the painting jigs!! Better than my piece of wood ;p
😉Pretty tell ya put paint on it.😂Sorry😁I just really like the look of wax dipped boxes, great set up. Some thing similar is my next big beekeeping project.👍Thanks for sharing your time.
Do u use oil based or latex paint? They look good!
Both water based and oil based will work but this concrete paint is oil based
Look at all those beautiful bee boxes, so much work goes into providing us with such a quality product, thank you to all the team at Ben's Bees😁❤
Nice short hair, mine is 12.
What a great set up. Well done
This guy has no clue, ELVISH HONEY is this most expensive
the ancients used tallow candles, but yes, beeswax is the best
Could you do a video om how to make tea lights please :)
Love theese :) I want to get into to making candles not for selling exactly but just makkng for at home ive made a few but i keep getting sink holes or the wick moving around and then it doesnt burn and wastes alot of tje cabdle well i re use the wX now but still so was wondering if you had any tips on that
Could you please do an inspection on a double hive 😁
I found the Queen !!! 😁
I successfully transferred my nucleus hive today that I got from Ben’s Bees by watching this video and using Ben’s advice. I’m a completely new bee owner and never handled bees before. Yes I was nervous but thankfully Ben’s Bees were very placid and I had no trouble at all. Thanks Ben your video on how to do the transfer was so useful AND your advice worked. 😊🌻❤️🐝
Thanks Ben this was most useful.
Bees' pecker to high LOL!!!
A+ for the dance moves and use of the smoker :)
Love ya dance moves Ben...
Cant wait. Next week Wednesday or Saturday I will be doing exactly what you have shown here. Move my bees from the nuc hive to a flow hive. Cheers Ben.

Hi Ben Would you happen to have the beeswax sheets that’s can be rolled into pillar candles

Much love & light to you! Your candles are gorgeous!
I’ll give it a go Ben👍👍 Cheers
Interesting. I keep bees in South Africa. When it comes to working African bees. We found harvesting in the late Afternoon best. If they get set off like you experienced they dont go on the rampage the whole day and have the night to calm down. The next day they will still be on high alert. Also we find smoking ALL the hives in the apairy well before starting and wait a bit to take effect, is very important. dont just smoke them one at a time like when you work Euro bees...As the other hives set each other off, as well as when squashing the green plants/weeds in the apairy when walking, that smell drives African bees crazy, when it's hot and humid. Masking that smell with smoke is very NB. We always have 2 smokers going in case one goes out (ideally everyone working has their own smoker) All the best.
Thanks for your comment! Yeah I was really skeptical about their insistence on opening hives in the morning but I know African bees are in general different in some ways than the bees I'm accustomed to so I'm not in a position to insist they're wrong, and after the first few fiascos I kind of had to concede to them on this point ;)
You look good
Great to see you in Smock
Next time I'll have to bring one back for Ben! :D
Great video… lots of useful info packed in there
The tool that you are using name of the company please and thank Ben

I love your lives Ben. So nice to see people in australia going live in aussie land
Honey bees work for balance in the hive it makes sense that they would look for balance in food. I'll bet that the colonies that were stronger/healthier were the one that had the better balance also. Ty for your time, Blessed Days...
I was a little disappointed ,no one mentioned Randy Oliver's very practical way of breeding for resistance without wrecking his income. He even went to new Zealand to demonstrate hands on. There is a utube on that ,
Gr8 interview Ben and Karen (wow) a couple more years in Oz you will be sounding like a real ridgy didge Aussie lol gr8 to have you here cheers 🍻👍
Go Karen!!
Excellent discussion. Bob’s insights are gold. Given Australian bees have no resistance to varroa it will require a major effort by queen breeders to supply the genetic material needed to requeen all our colonies. NSW has over 300,000 hives that will need mite resistant queens. And importing queens from overseas risks introducing viruses carried by the mites. The industry will also have to develop cost effective treatment practices that are effective in Australian environmental conditions. Bob’s insights are very welcome as the industry faces this challenge.
You REALLY need to get Randy Oliver to talk on one of these!
