Speaker Series - July 2024 - Making Your Asset Management Data Work for You
You’ve gotten away from pencil and paper. You’ve even gotten away from the first Asset Management software package you ever tried. Your Asset Management System is now a well-oiled machine. It works hard for your organization every day, collecting data with every button click. But what is that data doing?
From automating GIS updates to keeping the public informed of the latest health information, the City of Rockwall has put that data to work. Take a peek at the magic behind the apps and learn how to make your data work for your organization.

Awesome presentation with tons of great content (*automate EVERYTHING you can, especially the tasks that you hate doing)! I had a good chuckle when you mentioned the table auto balancing bug - this was a major issue for me last year when revamping our paper road map
Wow! John Nelson, you're my hero. From a fellow map nerd.
Thanks for posting this. Im looking forward to the advanced topics discussion.
Is ArcGIS better than QGIS?
John Nelson is a legend!
Awesome!
I love watching John do his thing! Crazy that he was talking about a pandemic back then.
MDS is not a 'Google' map but rather a needed map view or capture of where an out of region call is coming from. For example, if you have a call taker in Boston, and a caller from Scranton, PA calling Boston 9-1-1 to request help for his mother in Boston, the call taker in Boston may want to see a map of where that caller is from, which of course is out of their area of operations. Likewise a call could get inadvertently sent to another center other than the one that would normally serve its geographic location. Here again the MDS would be needed to provide the call taker with a picture of where the call is coming from.

Lots of great advice in this presentation! Thanks.
Thanks for a great eye opener!
