@@exploringairports Well I've watched a lot of video's of similar content and when music is put over the top of the video, the overwhelming responses are that the music takes away from the true feeling of that experience. Some have made the music so loud that you can't hear the person/s talking or in the case of background sounds, you can't hear them either. Whether it's aviation, cars, boats or anything along those lines, majority of people want to experience the video just as if they were right there with you. All the sounds that make the experience is why I think people watch video's like yours. I learned to fly in a clipped wing piper cub and it was noisy, but it was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Without sound, it's not complete in my opinion especially if I'm trying to convey through video what it's like flying a cub. I mean no disrespect or criticism of your video.

Seeing this video reminded me of riding in our family car over similar runways West of Tucson near the town of Silverbell, AZ. We had relatives that lived in the area and the one lane dirt roads took advantage of the proximity of the air fields to have a short smooth surface. That was in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

There was another auxiliary emergency field just immediately north of Williams Field it was on the northeast corner of Power Rd and Baseline Rd. It was between Power and Sossaman Rd and Baseline and Southern. I remember it well from the 50s and 60s when the area was still rural, but it started to be built over in the 70s and in the 80s I could still see a small remnant of it complete with lighting stanchions. Today it's been totally built over by homes, businesses and a golf course.

You keep saying "the United States Air Force," but the United States Air Force did not come about until September 18, 1947 with the passage of the National Security Act of 1947.

Back in the 1970’s there was a radar facility there. We would shoot practice GCA approaches there. For a long time there was a Playboy bunny we used as a ground reference for entering the overhead traffic pattern. The bunny was the logo for Tipper Flight.

It definitely spells Metallica, I used to fly RC planes at that spot in the late 90’s, early 2000’s and it was painted there around that time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

We were there in the 1990s and many of the aircraft looked as they do in this video but more neglected. Looking at the Viscount, Caravelle (I flew on both types in the 1960s) and so many more suggests that a wash and a lick of paint isn't high on their list of things to do. It's a shame as they could be museum quality, as the name of the venue suggests, instead of rotting hulks.

The concrete slabs are objects of a known weight that military helicopters can use for helicopter aircrews and ground crews practice moving sling loads. That's a small one. Some of them are huge.

Two of my favorite Cold War weapons were the B 36 because it was so big and the Davy Crockett because it was so small. The Davy Crockett gave the nuclear option to the infantry squad leader.
