Passing on some advice: You seem like a kind hearted guy, with empathy and concern for others. That is a great quality to have, just don't waste it on those that are not going to change. This may sound harsh, but his choices and addictions are none of your business. Meaning you can't take it personal when he does not respond. There are times you need to MYOB (mind your own business). Addiction is a serious illness, there is no cure or "fixing" it. Nothing you do or say will ever impact that. They have to hit rock bottom to begin to help themselves. I encourage you to change your mindset with him and anyone similar that they are sick. Body, Mind and Spirit are all sick at the same time. Your only responsibility is to you. If you want to help him, print out all local AA/NA meetings in town, encourage him to go. The rest has to be up to him. Separate yourself from him, unless he is in immediate danger. I am a 52 year old gay man, I spent my 20's and 30's trying to fix men and people and just got used and abused. It was a hard lesson for me to learn, which took way too long. I am married to an alcoholic (sober 17 years, his rock bottom was jail). Protect yourself and your heart first, help others second! Hope this helps.

You lost me at **I could fix him**. You are not family. Seldom is it a good idea to intervene. I've done it quite a few times and it's exhausting and mostly unproductive.

When you're young, and really want love and intimacy, it's easy to mold yourself to fit others in an attempt to receive that love as quickly as possible. But that doesn't work. One day you will look back and question why you ever gave this guy a chance in the first place because he's so clearly not a good match for you. Until then you just have to remember that the vast majority of people you meet will not have similar values to you and will not have the right chemistry with you, and that just because it feels emotionally exciting does not mean it's the right match. Keep looking for that match, and let the wrong ones roll off your back as best as you can.

Sorry for the book. You’re gonna meet a lot of shitty gay people at your age. Lots of them are going to party nonstop, lots of those kinds are also very deeply unhappy with themselves and only know how turn to dick & drugs to feel like they’re worth it. Hard to avoid in this community unfortunately, but you WILL find someone that is cut from your cloth, and the right person will make you forget about all that hopeless searching and all the fear that comes with being alone in our world. You’ll know it when you’re BOTH inspired to be better for each other and each other alone. It’ll be you two against the world, and neither of you will have to turn to TH-cam to know how you’re feeling because you’ll feel comfortable enough to tell each other anything directly without fear of judgement. You shouldn’t have to be the only one contributing when the other is so clearly about themselves and always will be. You deserve better and you will get that life changing happiness with someone who values you equally highly and wants to truly know you. Don’t give up on it, it’s one of the most amazing things you could ever experience in life and it’s out there waiting for you somewhere. I went out with guys for years, and definitely partied alongside those types too because like so many others, that’s what I thought I had to do to get anywhere. That’s until I found my person who made me look at myself deeply and I realized that I didn’t need to do that. You give me hope actually, that people are finally feeling confident enough in themselves that they don’t need to stoop to partying or anything else that makes them unhappy just to have a basic shot at finding love. You absolutely don’t have to. You are enough and you’re going to find someone who treats you like a king because you’re beautiful and will always be more than enough. Yeah trying to fix people rarely goes well. They do what they do and you do what you do. Especially with addictions involved and sometimes that can turn to violence. Its just better not to by yourself. They have ro want it and want to seek treatment and stick with it.
