      That is the most common move. In that specific move order ( 6.Nf3 before 6.h4 has been played) it is also possible for black to play 6... Nf6 and then meet 7.h4 with 7...Nh5. the line is supposed to be okay for white but it is one more thing you have to prepare for. On 6. h4 Nf6 7.h5 is simply advantage White. Hi Robert, My name is Rayman, and I run a chess/education company called ReelChess. I’m a huge fan of your videos! I also wanted to mention that we have a VIP program offering exclusive coaching for master-level players with a strong compensation package. Let me know if you’d be interested in hearing more about it. My vision is to combine chess and education on a global scale. Here’s a bit about my chess journey: I'm currently rated around 2100 online, but I haven't played over the board yet. I have my first tournament coming up, so I’m finally diving into opening prep. My goal is to achieve CM, IM, and eventually GM titles within the next 4 years-1 year for CM, 1.5 years for IM, and another 1.5 years for GM. How realistic do you think this is? For context, I started playing chess when I was 10 and won the state championship within just 4 months. After that, I took a long break and picked it back up during COVID. I’ve only recently begun seriously studying tactics, puzzles, and openings. I’m 21 years old now, and I’d estimate my current strength to be around 2100 FIDE. I’ll get a better sense of my true level at the upcoming tournament. I’m aiming to gain 400 rating points over the next four years, dedicating 3 hours every day to chess. Do you think this is achievable, or is it a long shot? Either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And yes, I’m prepping the Ruy Lopez 🤫🤫 Looking forward to your insights!

    I'm coming at this from blacks perspective, I know u play this Bxh6, Qb6 line yourself with black. My main question is why go for 18.Nxf3 if it doesn't work, why not just go 18.Bd7 and consolidate the pawn advantage. Lets say 19.hxg, hxg, then what's whites follow up? Qh6 is just a paper tiger, as our king runs f7-e8 and white is borderline lost. 20.Re1 looks dangerous with the idea of f4, forcing our knight to move so they can take on e7 with a crushing attack. But concretely black has Qb4 with f4+ to save the day. So white probably goes kb2 avoiding this check but then we can go d5 force a queen trade and continue to try and consolidate. i.e. 20.Re1 Qb4 21.kb2 d5 22.Ne4 Qxd2 23.Nxd2 Rbe8, from this point on I think black has better chances Don't get me wrong after 18.Bd7 this is still very sharp, practically there are many pitfalls for black to fall into but with active defence I think black is better

      @@ZackReed-m8h This is a Really good Comment. Everything in it is right. A student of mine played 18...Bd7 against me quite some time after I made this video. I'll admit that back then the only real prep I had was 19.hxg6 hxg6 20.Re1 exactly as you said in your comment.... And Yes....20....Qb4 is a problem... LOL ... So other things need to be looked at. 20.Kb2, 20.a3 and 20.Bd3 all lead to complex positions that are unclear and need to be explored. I'm going to explore it further and try to find something definitive but for now the line you gave is in fact best play as far as I can tell.

      @@robertplunkettschesslab Thanks I appreciate your input, from what I can tell 12...Rb8 is better than Qb6, as against 13.h4 the queen is better placed on a5 then b6. I think this is why GM Erigaisi and IM Perunovic play 12.Rb8. But Qb6 prevents a lot of whites ideas after e5, so if we could make this move work that would be great. 12.Qxh6 Qb6 13.h4 Rb8 14.b3 Qc5 15.kb2 dxe4 16.Qg5, this Qg5 move sees to be the problem for black, as after Qxg5 white simply gets a dominant ending, its an inhuman move but well prepared players will know this 16....Qf5 seems best according to the engine, i don't fully understand this move yet but if white takes on f5 we take with the g pawn and defend e4 and if they play g4 we can take on f3 one IM has played this line against a GM and managed to win but it wasn't due to the opening the position is still extremely complicated and gives me a lot of hope from blacks perspective 17.g4 Qxf2 19.Be2 Qf2 20. h5 Bxg4 21.hg Qf5 22. gh Kh8 23.Qh4 Bxe2 24.Nxe2 Qg4 25.Qh2 Qg7 we set up discoveries against the king on B2 and this is nearly equality I'm not certain this line is best, what do you think is the best way to deal with 13.h4?

    It's a good video for sure, but the claim of not having to calculate is still exaggerated. Even in a situations with two pawns blocking each other - there is a "pawn zone" that the king should be able to get to, ok, fine, that makes sense, of course the king needs to be able to get closer to the pawn. But it doesn't really provide a way to so easily understand which move is correct, because some of them would lead to a loss.

    • @robertplunkettschesslab
      @robertplunkettschesslab 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ALTTABINMAINMENU The truth is that if you want to play every endgame in the absolute optimal way you will need to calculate at some point. The point I was making in this video is that large swaths of the endgame don't need to be calculated at all. That means that you can focus all your energy on calculating positions that actually require it. By avoiding calculations in positions that can be assessed properly at a glance you can calculate much much deeper in the positions that need it. That's why my title was how to win 90% of king and pawn endgames. If you want that last 10% you'll need to calculate.

      @@robertplunkettschesslab That makes sense, of course. I still find it difficult to use concept of pawn zones to quickly see the right move in the case of blocked pawns, for example. I even watched your dedicated video about it (also very good one!), but somehow it just doesn't "click" for me

    I have never seen a more unrealistic situation, how would he get his queen out if there isnt space for bishops to move away and the queen’s pawn is untouched…

      @@LephaltPW It is incredibly unrealistic but it is a "legal" position. Obviously the Bishops would have had to be captured without ever moving (other pieces could have been captured without moving as well). The rest is self explanatory..... But yes.... The odds of this happening in a real game when rounded to the nearest percentage is effectively 0%.... LOL..... But it is a legal position and although very very very unlikely it is still "possible". LOL

      @@robertplunkettschesslab Any human being on the planet right now is hopefuly not dumb enough to “sacrifice” their bishops and then not take back with queen or king, it is possible ofcourse but only staged, theres not even a probability of this happening in any game unless an opponent is trolling ig

      @@LephaltPW It's not really meant to be a practical puzzle. LOL. It is fun. It is also a reasonable exercise in how to calculate stalemate combinations.
